I really need to tips and secrets for shiny coats. I have a dark liver chestnut and her coat never seems to get a shine on at shows.
Any tips please?

Yep it is a natural thing - you've either got it or you haven't really but you can help by not washing the coat close to the show (if at all), by brushing with a nice soft brush, using a summer sheet or body cover, feeding oil or one of the feeds that is recommended for shiny coats, using a flyrug when pony is turned out to protect the coat from sunshine etc. Not sure but cider vinegar in feed might help.

I swear by adding soya oil and seaweed to my ponies feeds - not the infoal mares though but everything else - makes a great difference to their coats, just watch you don't overdose the seaweed as its high in iodine

I feed mine a supplement of cooked linseed and fenugreek. I can't remember off hand who makes it, but I can find out for you. I get it from my local feed merchant but I know you can get it over the internet.

Im a fan of soyola, it used to be 89p a litre in Tescos but has gone up substantially so had to find a less expensive alternative. Found a few large soya oil containers at the feed store so have stowed them for the winter. People always comment on the gleam on my ponies coats.
