Im not sure of the correct name of the item I am looking for but we fancy buying some of the numbers pins that hold your number to your jacket in the ring, instead of the black string. Does anyone know what they are called and how much the cost? Thanks all in advance

Have you not got number elastic?
I use thin, round elastic, can be bought from Haberdasheries, hobby craft etc. I bought 2 metres for about £1. Then just cut to size and tie a loop either end of the elastic(leave a little bit of extra when cutting down for the loops). loops go over the buttons of the jacket and can be used for many, many years, I still have some from when I started doing lead reins almost 13 years ago that is still usable!

I use number elastic too but I always feel like my rosettes are going to bounce off during the lap of honour - has anyone got any tips to make them feel more secure? Also, if you had number pins where would you put your rosettes?

Stronger elastic to prevent the rosette bounce!

I bought some number magnets, but they broke straight away and were simply glued together- rip of at £20! will use elastic next time

twist the rosette round once, this secures it better and stops it bouncing off, well most of the time anyway

Definitely agree with the elastic. We use the same technique as Tabby. Very impressed with yours lasting so long Tabby - ours doesn't break but we lose them regularly, despite having a "rule" that they go straight into the jacket pocket after use...!

Aren't the number pins more of a dressage thing? I've never seen anyone using them showing and I think they would trash your jacket if you used them a lot.

The ones I was thinking about look like they are simply pinned at the sides of the numbers to your jackets which means no elastic at all.
I have to agree also that the elastic ones are great but seem to be seeing more and more people with the numbers pinned on. Think I saw them at Hoys last year and a few times this season.

We use elastic too, looks alot tidier than the ties that the shows supply!

I have just bought some of this for my daughter - good quality - made two little loops at each end to pop round front middle button. Bought this red colour to match red line in tweed and then went to PUK champs this weekend and realised my error immediately when I went to do evening performance with a blue jacket - oh well - it didn't really show and they had already made their placings decision. Would recommend these guys though - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200669807905?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_922

Number elastic - I remember being told pins weren't "de rigeur" ;D Dead cheap from a habidashery, cut to size with two little loops et voila. (and yes, twist rossette's round once to secure them)

Use wrap plaiting thread, much less obvious than elastic. Don't wrap either round your jacket buttons, it'll give you a sack of spuds look. Not very elegant!!!

I use elastic, and like Tabby have had mine since I was on LR! To make the rosettes more secure I wrap around twice, and if anyone knows me I always tuck the tails into my pocket. This way they don't fly around, or get caught with your leg etc. And if you tuck it in nicely it still looks neat

We have thin elastic, & tie little loops either end of it to find round the button.
I do as iluvbuckroox does wrap your rosette round twice!

Yep thin elastic for me too. Wrap rosette round a couple times, I also tuck my rosette tassel things into my jackey pocket to keep them still

Donna, we use elastic too! I just loop both ends to my size of my waist and then hook it round my button and its quicker and easier! xx
