First show yesterday! Generally he was a good boy, but.... standing in the line up proved, um, a challenge, to say the least. Big lad shuffling about, walking backwards, etc.
We've practised at home and it's nowhere near this bad. Anyone got any tips?xx

The more shows he goes to the more he'll get used to it. In the mean time, you could walk him in little circles when the judge isn't looking. I've also seen people feed treats to keep their ponies occupied

Its all about practise the more shows you can take him to and get him in a line up the better!

I had one like this and got over it by scratching his withers really hard!! He would pull some funny faces but at least he stood still as he was enjoying his scratch so much!!!
Eventually we had to scratch him less and less and he was happy to stand still!

I totally agree with the above, I took a pony to his first show he was spinning and rearing in the line up, went to his second a week or so later and he stood as good as gold!

if scratching the withers doesnt work try scratching the crease of the shoulder, its a trick we use for poorly ponies having treatment and it works on most
