HORSE DONATION SCAM!!! BLACK AND WHITE FOAL WITH A CUT LEG - I’m a fair person and I have good judge of character too and I am absolutely disgusted and mortified at some of the length’s some people go to. There are a lot of flyers in post offices, shopping centres, animal feed stores etc. around the areas of croft, Birchwood and surrounding areas, asking for donations and explaining about a black and white foal who severely cut her leg on barbed wire, was ravished with infection and had been left to die and to cut a long story short a lady called Helen had rescued it by paying £200 and buying the foal of the original owner. The flyers are asking for donations to help with vet fee’s as the lady can not afford them. I have donated money myself as many people have, there are children going round schools trying to help, my local feed store has a money box and a box where good hearted people have been buying bandages and donated them to the cause.
I went yesterday to see an elderly gent, who is not so nimble on his feet anymore as he was in his younger years, called Ray Malkin who owns a farm which sells eggs and potatoes, i went to ask if i could turn a colt out on his field, as my colt is not aloud out on my current yard. I used ride his horses when i was younger, I used to keep horses on his land and i have purchased many a horse of him as he is a trusted gent in the horse community. Ray has grafted all his life and is a genuine, generous, good hearted fellow with a love of all animals and a fantastic reputation. On arriving i asked Ray if i could use his field and was shocked when he said no. Ray was very upset and handed me a flyer, he asked me if i had seen it and i confirmed i had. He said that’s Daisy, the young filly that you seen the other week. He explained that she had cut her leg on barbed wire and he got the vet out to her straight away. Helen as mentioned previously had been on his yard and begged him to sell her Daisy. Ray said he couldn't as she needs to be kept treated by the vet. Helen was very persistent, confirmed she could afford the vet fee’s and went on and on and in the end after feeling very pressurised, Ray reluctantly sold the horse for £200 to cover the vet fee’s that he had occurred and made no profit. Ray is very upset, embarrassed, mortified and this has caused him and his wife no end of stress and worry as their lively hood is affected. Helen has dragged his name through the mud, falsely claimed that Daisy had been neglected, abandoned and left to die in order to take the pee out of good willed people and receive monetary gain. I asked Ray what has he done about this and he said nothing, i asked why and he said the damage had already been done. Ray then showed me the vet bill. i asked ray if i could have a copy and he told me to take it.
My partner (Lee Curran) and i went to the feed store and asked the lady behind the counter if people were still donating and she they have raised over £100 already and this has been handed to Helen personally and more and more people are donating everyday. I explained the situation and handed her Ray Malkin’s vet bill. She was disgusted and pulled the donation boxes down and is awaiting her managers instructions on what to do with the money and donations. I have wrote to you so we can alert other people to this scam and to clear Ray’s name as he is unable to do this due to medical reasons. I cant express how angry i am about this and i feel as though something needs to be done.
