If anybody out there has a french bulldog? I could do with some advice , my 4 month old puppy has a very sensitive tummy. She came from the breeder on royal canin, but this proved to be to rich for her. I have put her on james wellbeloved, but she is just as bad, very loose poos and loads of them! (didnt realise though that they are the same company) Will be taking her vets v soon, but wd be nice to hear if anybody else has the same prob? (have heard bulldogs can be tricky?) Any advice would be great!

One of my dogs had an extremely sensitive stomach resulting in severe colitis and inflammatory bowel disease (and she had pancreatitis early last year). Over the years I have tried all sorts of 'so called' hypoallergenic/sensitivity diets including James Wellbeloved and Royal Canin, I now feed Fish4dogs complete. Touch wood since she has been on this diet (for a year), she has had no problems whatsoever. It has no wheat, chicken, egg, preservatives, or other allergens etc in it (just fish, fish meal/oil, beet pulp fibre and vitamins and mineras and they do a cod version, sardine, and a salmon one. They also do fish skin jerkies/skinny strips and other pure fish goodies and none of these irritate my dogs stomach. You may find that your dog has intolerances to wheat or even chicken so it may be worth a try? They do a puppy version too.
You can get it direct from the web or it is cheaper if you can find a local stockist

No worries, I hope it works. Dont forget to introduce any new diet slowly over a period of about 5 days or she may poo and break wind more than ever!! Best of luck with your puppy.

Hope Barkingheads suits your puppy, fingers crossed. Cant feed it to my dog as it has both chicken and egg in it, and too many other ingredients.

We use Arden grange you can buy it in waitrose or order online. What ever u choice make sure it has no filler ... Cereals etc and preservative free. Mine love it wet, they go mad for the gravy Have the same problem with one of put old dogs. They have been on it for 4 months and her stomach cleared up almost immediately. U can also get something call pro colon .... It's a prebiotic paste that's helps clear up and calm the intestine. A lot of dog food has fillers .... Cereals and extras no hood for a sensitive tummy!!! Good luck.

I have a similar problem as 'bitrusty', I have an elderly dog who has in the last couple of years developed a very sensitive stomach which has led to bouts of severe diarrhea and an intolerance to certain foods which he was ok with previously. I use Protexin Pro-Kolin as soon as he shows any signs of an upset (touch wood none recently), it stops the diarrhea almost immediately, brilliant stuff! And you can use it for as long as you need to. I had been feeding him Burns Pork and Potato as it doesn't contain any of the ingredients I know him to be sensitive to, however it does make him extremely constipated, (sorry to be graphic) but his poo is so crumbly it's hard to clean up and he drops small bits without even knowing he's doing it. In the last few days I've started to gradually introduce Arden Grange Fish and Potato and almost immediately the colour of his poo changed from almost white to a more normal colour, size and form. I actually intend to change to Fish 4 Dogs, but bought the AG to try as it is available locally whereas I would need to order Fish 4 Dogs online.

I have 2 frenchies, the girl is not to bad but the boy you can never give him any treats or unexpected roast dinners as it upsets him, he has Ceasar 2 of the trays a day, 1 morning 1 evening with tesco small dog mixer. They are lovely dogs , where did you get your girl from? good luck as they do all seem to vary, had one before and she was fine on anything but not this one!

I have now ordered fish4dogs, will give it a try before I take her back to vets. She has improved slightly on the barking mad, have just stopped mixing it with JWbeloved. But she is still very loose and goes at least 10 times a day! /she is VERY bright and happy though as naughty as any 4 month old pup should be! I got her from a small breeder near to peterborough, she seemed very nice and genuine, but cannot fail to see that she didnt know about this tummy upset, she has had it from day one of her coming to us? I have spoken to her about it but says she was never like that, so dont know really! She is a super little dog, such fun and very funny to watch, the other dogs seem to really lover her, but DONT go near her food! What colours do you have janet?

Sounds like your puppy does just have a delicate tummy, especially as she is so bouncy and happy. I agree with Idalia that the Protexin Pro-kolin paste is marvellous stuff for emergancies, and to clear the runs up quickly! Good luck with the Fish4dogs but be prepared to be patient because they do not have the fastest delivery service! If you can find a local stockist it is cheaper too.

Bitrusty, Do you find that your dogs drink a lot on Fish4Dogs? I noticed my oldie's water intake went up dramatically on the Arden Grange Fish and Potato, I've taken him back off it for this reason and his drinking went back to normal immediately. I was just wondering if Fish4Dogs would do the same

Hi, the 2 younger dogs dont drink any more than they have always done but my old girl does drink a lot. I dont think this is anything to do with the food though. I do soak my dogs food so they get plenty of moisture, but feeding dry food does tend to increase water intake.

Thanks for the reply It was definitely the AG that was making him drink excessively, he's fine now, he's always been on dry food, but I may still get a small bag of Fish4Dogs and see how that goes.

Totty update: just one week on fish4dogs and I now have a much happier puppy, who does proper poos, has no wind issues :-) and her coat is much glossier! When she is older I am ordering a sack and putting the whole gang on it. Great result!
