Ok Whilst on the subject of height, If a section C is true to breed standard, flashy action, straight, Unblemished with a beautiful head....... should it be marked down for being a hand smaller than its counterparts? I personally think not as there is no lower limit in the breed standard....discuss?
PS/ Welcome Diane.... you know I'm an inhandy Welshie!! LOL

LOL Nxxxxxxx Hi ...Love the Riot by the way I have the same problem at the moment...WITH A D We showed her with success early on this year but she has stopped growing and would now not look out of place in the C ring! We turned her out as she was not holding her own against the bigger yearlings. I think the C's are a minefield...too big/too small...but personally think a good un is a good un

Like all welsh breeds there is a division in what a true C is. Different breeders like different things. I ve always admired Cs but as yet have not got one. I like fronarth robben, he s my idea of a good C.

Hello, we have b's and generally do look for something more up to height as i am a small adult however we like ours to be typey and have bone. I do think a lot of b's verged more onto the fr types recently and cld often be light of bone if they are to small or mistaken for a section a. I like whatever breed it is to really shout out at me if that makes sense!!! The b i have shown this year is 13hh but has tons of bone and i think very correct for a b with a pretty head. He actually came from holland but has a lot of eyath lines in him- he won the picton this year at nps but has only been lightly shown. He is not the most flashy pony out there but i think he appeals a lot to the more old fashioned fans. Section c wise i actually like mine to be quite pony. I am not a fan of the huge big d like c's that at one point seemed to be the fashion. I like them to be short on their legs, a proper cob but still pretty and pony like. My boy is called popsters loaded weapon and i think he is pretty typey although i wld say not everyones cup of tea which is what showing is about. I like the fact he is a real little cob - i think a lot of the waxwing c's are very similair and i love waxwing rheel as a type. Jacob actually measures just under 13hh, he is very small when you stand next to him in the stable but you wldnt think so when he goes as he looks much bigger and is so wide!! I don't know why but often think the section b's that are of smaller type do well in the in-hand but guess it is always down to the judges. I thinkt here can often be a very different type of section c for the inhand job, the ridden job and the driving job, think a lot has to do with the action and the make up behind the saddle.

thank you - we all love him to us he is just coblet!! unfortunatly he picked up an injury during the season and missed all the majors so haven't really done much with him :-( fingers crossed for HOYS (lucky he qual 1st attempt) but bless him he won't have been out for so long hope he can still do it. I like your boy to - there are some really cracking c's about now. Use to think b's were the strongest but def think it has shifted!

Welcome Diane. My family and I show ridden and in hand, but have concentrated mostly on two yearling colts this season. A friend came to stay in our lorry overnight at a recent show, and fell about laughing when she saw our "tack" ... two weeny bridles and a white head collar! Its great not doing ridden I have only shown in hand this year and it is so much easier, i took 3 to equifest (2 youngsters and a welsh who was just coming back into work) and only did inhand and everything fit in the wagon. unlike last year with one welsh doing in hand ridden and side saddle wagon was bursting at the seems!
