I've never done inhand at county level with my Fell so I've not got a clue what to wear I'm going to have to buy myself a good pair of running trainers because she really covers the ground, but what do I wear? Does the pony have a bridle or a white halter? Thanks in advance

As you said:
IH running trousers (usually a creamy colour) Tweed Jacket with shirt & tie Most people wear a strapless hat but you'll have to check the rules for your age - a strapped hat'll be fine though. Or no hat, but yet again will have to check rules.
I would say IH Bridle or a white halter.

if she is a mare a white halter would be more correct, as long as you casn safely handle her in it, if not and in hand bridle would be fine

Think I will invest in a white halter then, thank you Still unsure of what to wear? Would cream trousers, shirt, tie & tweed & hair neatly tied back be ok? Or should I not wear a tweed? Everyone wears different things these days so it's hard to understand what is actually correct.

Try and find the pictures from last years Cheshire show and have a look on there it will give you an idea of what to wear

Google Image 'In-Hand Fell'. You'll find most people where tweed jackets, with a strapless hat, beige trousers, etc.

Shoes wise, I buy normal short (brown) riding boots, then have studs put it the bottom, that way it still looks smart but I can run! For in-hand you should really have a hat of some sort on to be technically correct And for natives try and keep everything very plain / brown / blue / grean / cream and no bling! goodluck

Ahh never thought of having studs put in riding boots, will look that up. I've competed at county level for years with SHP's & natives so I know what colour is correct, just wasn't sure what to wear regarding hat & tweed Thanks everyone

Good pair of runnng trainers are the best, I have some dark olive green ones and they do the trick, smart but I can run fast in them. Becareful if its wet especially as joddy boots are really slippy. Re jacket vs waistocat, depends on the day, weather wise, if its cool I would wear your tweed which looks really smart but if baking hot go for a shirt and waistcoat. Dont think the forecast is brilliant so your tweed will be fine. Re trousers, your black school trousers would have been fine but with black legs a contrast is best. I personally like a taupe needle cord which are fitted and possibly boot leg so they flare out over your trainers. What day are you there? Good luck, she is very gawjus I am sure you will do fab whatever you wear.

Thanks Michele Will definitley get some trainers then, don't want to be falling over! Haha Yes think I will go with my tweed (which reminds me, will drop your waistcoats off next week, they're in my wardrobe so keep forgetting ) Been trying to find some cords but no luck as of yet. We're there Tuesday for the inhand & Wednesday for the ridden Thank you

I usually wear green cords when showing my Fells inhand (a bit more flattering than beige if you're not a size 10,, lol!) and they go well with my tweed jacket.
White halter, inhand bridle or riding bridle (if pony is of an age to be ridden) are all fine. I usually go with what suits the individual pony best - I had a mare who looked her best in her pelham so that's what she was shown inhand wearing (plus she would have been difficult to hold in a white halter, lol) but I have others who wear a halter or inhand bridle.

Thank you very much everyone! ;D Nearly sorted now, have ordered some beige cords & I'm going to wear my shirt, tie & tweed. Going to get some trainers at the weekend & need to decide what to do with my hair. Have also ordered a white halter for pony. ;D Thanks again everyone! Any ideas what I should do with my hair? Should it just be neatly tied back with lots of hairspray?

Hair would be the same as under any hat - neatly tied back or if you manage it with all your lovely hair, in a bun with a net over. But a neat ponytail under your hat should be fine!

I ordered a halter but I wanted one with the chain that goes under the chin and realised I ordered the wrong one-Woops! Hopefully it will arrive in plenty of time for her to have a practise and see if she can stop her in it and to see if it suits her
