Basically long story cut short, we have a feral cat who visits daily with the kittens. She has now dropped 2 lots of kittens! She is now going to be nueted after we finally caught her! Kittens are free if anybody wants one in the leicestershire area:) But, were trying to handle the few we catch, one we have, he is in our house and we want him, we have been picked up and has been suckling my dressing gown and is all okay, has been let to run around the kitchen and we left the room and was alot braver. He is just very timid and whilst in the cage (have other cat, and he is only 6/7weeks) he is really timid, and will hide when people are in the room. Now is this just a case of time and handling hourly or is there anything else? Any advice would be appreciated

don't know a lot about cats but we have feral cats on our farm that are always having kittens and whilst some will let you near them, others run for their lives!
I think with him being born feral it's just going to be a case of him getting used, but some cats are just not people animals and prefer their own company. (Talking from experience of friend's cats!!)

yep just time We used to rehome the kittens from the rubbish bins behind a big hotel until they killed them all as pests. They made super pets one was so wild it bit right through my hand but two days later it came to me purring and was a great cat

It just takes time. Try not to rush it and wait until they come to you.
Well done for catching their Mum, and good luck finding homes! ;D

We caught 2 feral kittens - one is tame the other still cant bare to be stroked! We used to just get hold of them all the time and stroke them nicely, feed them tit bits - its all in there heads and if they want to be stroked they will if not they wont have anything to do with you! Like i say one of ours is tame and jumps up and sits on your knee the other wont come anywhere near!

Yep - just time - even a kitten that has been born into a household will behave like that when it goes to a new home - one is for sure cats HATE change - it is their worst nightmare.

I would just leave the kitten be, carry on your life around it and it will come out. My lovely cat spent the first two months of her life with me in a bookcase if anyone was in the room.

Firsty well done for giving these cats a chance. I took three feral kittens from the yard i was on last summer one of there siblings was squashed by a horse. I took them straight too the vets they were treated for worms, flees one had a couple of ticks. Brought them home my partner made them a house and i borrowed a puppy pen off my friend they had to live outside for a few weeks till they were flee free! I went out to them at every chance syringed them milk handled them, then once they were ready introduced them to the house. Started bringing them into the kitchen for a hour and so on. They came round really quick i wanted to keep all three! A lady my partner works with rehomed two and i kept my billy! We love him to bit's he has us laughing when he goes off on a mad half hour! but he is so loving. It really is a case of time and handling, good luck they bring so much enjoyment i would certainly do it all again x

Thanks for all the advice, we have called ours charley and he has made a huge improvement just today, so fingers crossed!! We know of 5kittens all together but it looks like she could have another set and ready to drop again, so she is being taken by our vets and they are going to try and catch the male as more and more keep appering:)
