I read somewhere that Fylde saddles measure up smaller than your average saddles, can't remember where I read it though...is that right?
I am on the hunt for a new saddle and thinking along the lines of Fylde, what are the widths like on these saddles? Thanks!

Yes, especially the Hayden if I remember correctly.

All the fyldes that I have had or rode in seem smaller than they are, my old 17" Samantha seemed smaller than it was

I had this discussion with a lady a while ago as I was told by Peter Wilkinson that I could change our 16" Marjorie for a 17" Samantha. The lady selling a 16" Samantha (on here I think) also had a 16" Majrorie and did me the most enormous favour of meassureing almost every inch of the two saddles to compare them, and although the Samantha LOOKED smaller, it was in fact the ecxact same size as the Marjorie . ANd our Marjoire is definately no smaller than your 'normal' 16" saddle.

No, I measured my 15" Fylde Hayden against my 15" Barker and they were exactly the same, and I measured my 16" Fylde Hayden against my 16" Ideal ramsey and apart from flap length, width and depth of seat everything was the same. I'd say Fylde saddles come up wider than Ideal's, the 2 15" Haydens are wide and the Ideal Ramsey is wide but there is at least an inch difference, the Fylde's being wider, and the one Fylde is almost brand new and has barely been used so isn't stretched. Marjorie's are Fylde saddles, did you mean an Ideal Ramsey? a 16" Samantha would measure the same as a 16" marjorie or 16" Ideal Ramsey as they are both 16"!

What I was getting at was that Peter Wilkinson himslef said to me that the pony who is currently in the 16" Marjorie could carry a 17" Samantha as they are smaller in the seat, which they are obviously not! The pony can definately not carry a bigger saddle than 16" so was quite glad I didn't go by what he said and buy a 17" Samantha, would have been a waste of money

I think they're just a bit deceptive, found a 16inch hayden and a 16inch emma felt a lot smaller than a 16inch samantha although they really where the same size!
