I'm taking my mare on a fun ride this Saturday and I have a feeling she could be quite strong!
At the last fun ride we had a group bomb up behind us and spook her so she bolted!
She is ridden in a sweet iron snaffle, flash noseband and running martingale for everything and isn't too strong normally.
Does anyone have any advice of what to do?
I was thinking of changing her noseband to a grackle. She doesn't like poll pressure - when I first had her she was in a hanging cheek snaffle and she was really strong in that at times. I've tried her in a french link and she leans/takes hold so they are a no go either.
She's 16 and is a chunky welsh cob

My first thought before I'd read down your post was a grackle - defo try that.
I have my hunter in a grackle with a hanging cheek waterford - he is seriously strong, but this combination beat hands down any of the stronger bits I tried

I shall maintain control Please do not dope your pony as advised above. It is dangerous for pony, you and for all the others out riding. I shalln't say another word.

Thanks. Tried a waterford and she didn't like it at all
She has a fat tongue so struggled with a waterford and that's also why I didn't try a cherry roller.
Has anyone got any experiences of myler bits?

I have and it wasn't good, but thats just me. My boy hated it - stareted rearing, the combination of pressures confused and upset him. But as I say, thats just me
