My mare can be a little fussy when mounting when she is in season however she is a much nicer animal when she is in season as she always wants cuddles rather than pulling faces lol!
What kinds of problems are you experiencing when riding her while shes in season?

My mare stood up vertical with me, napping to get to a very handsome gelding today I noticed she was in season before I got on, so I knew exactly what was going on when she started to nap towards him! She has had a foal after a natural covering - so who can blame her for wanting a bit of action! Double dose of MONKS pepper for that madam for the next week !

Keep a record of her behaviour - if it is on a monthly basis - when in season - put her onto Monks Pepper (agnus castis), if that doesnt work then regumate or a marble must be considered.
If its not strictly monthly - then get her back, saddle, teeth checked as LMSmith says x

lovepink how long does the monks pepper normally take to work [if it does work ] My daughters sec a has started being grumpy and bucking now her seasons have started so i have started her on the monks pepper a week ago . She always has been quite seasonal but when she was only ridden on the lead it wasnt so much of a problem . She had her teeth done a few weeks ago so cant be that . Pony has gone from being an angel who boosted my daughters confidence to a grumpy old bag [ not just when she is ridden ].

Normally in about 2 weeks. How much are you feeding? Get her back checked /sorted anyway, as the hormonal stress will have caused her muscles to have locked up

my mare is so funny when she's in season! She thinks she's a pure bred arab she's a fat connie x welsh ;D )
She bounces about snorting and it's just so funny to watch - it's as though she is saying "Yes I am beautiful and I know i!!"
The other mare is horrible when she is in season, in fact she's horrible all year round haha!

I use oestress on my mare, she is touchy crabbit and wants left well alone when in season. But i find that after the initail doseage and dropping to the maintanence amount it doesnt work, i keep my mare on the full 3 scoops when in season and it takes the edge of, I am considering regumate though, as im not a confident rider and she knows it. hence takes the p even more when in season. Another thing I noticed is that when she is in season she wants to kill the stallion, but quite nice towards him when she isnt. Think who ever taught her about the birds and the bees was a bit confused???

For one of our mares I use a supplement from Trinity Consultants called Attitude Balancer and it does work, her behavior is more consistent now. I had used one of their products in the past for a mare who was awful to handle on the ground when in season and it completely changed her attitude when in season. I have tried others but with little success.

My friends pony is horrendous when she is in season....the vet came last week and inserted a marble to see if that helps.... if it works it should surpress her seasons.

I have used oestress on my mare who is an absolute very *friendly* person when in season. She always seems to be in season more than out of it! She also seemed to get sensative on her tummy I changed her oestress to brewers yeast last yr and have found it does the same job but a lot less money!! I get my brewers yeast from Holland and Barret (the powder biter less form) It does not stop her coming into season but her moods are much more easier to handle. Oh and she is an Arab Mare!!

My mare is 100% not in season but a nightmare in season (just doesn't want to know!) - have tried oestress and it made no difference at all!
I now use regumate which is great but have found her quite lethargic - so any tips on her getting her sparkle back?

Reduce the amount of regumate gradually, to see how little she needs
