;D well I've taken the plunge & bought 2 pairs of ponies I'm so excited I was misguided for along time by some very misleading people they sold me a pair of ponies totally ripped me off & I was getting nowhere after giving up for a year, I kept thinking about driving & that I really wanted to do it now my dreams are coming true I'm learning with my ponies & starting off just long reining them to get me used to them & them used to me so will be doing that for a few weeks, but I can't wait to put them to the cart. Every horses person should have a go at driving it's so relaxing plodding along the road but then when you get in the ring & the buzzer goes omg it's soooooo exciting & thrilling I can't wait for that moment lol

Well done for trying again and i am glad you are now on the right track. I so agree with you about driving, nothing better than going out for a drive. Very best of luck to you and enjoy yourself.

Enjoy your ponies. I find just trotting along the lanes pleasant enough, I am not competative enough for scurry driving.

OMG first couple of times long reining was fab went really well. Then got a bit confident & started chatting with groom ponies spooked I ended up with 2 broken ribs & a rather large hole in my knee ouch lol but taught me not to take things for granted always keep you eye on the ball. After a few weeks off with my broken ribs lol im now back & long reining is going well. Put them to a friends cart at weekend & all hard work, blisters broken ribs has paid off they were fab. I cant wait now until Thursady as I have bought a cart & im going to collect it then. will post some pics once sorted x

well got my cart really excited put ponies too cart on friday what a diaster the swingles were really low as a novice i didnt realise the ponies have to be further away from the cart we set off at a nice walk for about 2 seconds then poor ponies decided this isnt right & shot off with me, god what a bloody huge learning curve seriously thought is this for me dont want to knacker these poor ponies. I managed to stop them & lenghtened the pole off we went again the poor ponies were terrified but after a minute or so they calmed down & walked around lovely. I took them out & left them for an hour then put them too again they were a bit OMG shes going to do it again but they were angels. If its taught me anything its to check & double check also how dangerous driving can be dont become over confident
