I have been getting my wee boy to lengthen his reins in walk and shorten in trot but I see other riders sit fixed on the reins. Which should I get him to do?

I get my daughter to shorten for trot...I consider her lead rein years as her training ground for riding on her own so the more good habits she gets into the better for me!

They fix there reins to fix the ponies head you want to get your tot to be elasticated in there reins and even show them how to pick up a contact you show that I'm the ring and you have cracked it because lead rein is to show the rider is capable but your there to stop anything going wrong really so get them riding more on there on even if it's on the lunge and getting them to feel the contact.
