I used to own a cat, until two years ago when I lost her aged 15. Loved her to pieces, but she was a bit of a madam, feisty, independent, and did things very much on her own terms. She always struck me that she was doing us a favour letting us live with her! It was very sad in her later years to see her turn into a very laid back house cat, who was intimidated on her own garden by the local riff-raff moggies, wanting nothing more than a quiet life by the fire. I'm sure in the end she suffered from dementia.
When she was eventually PTS she came home and is now in the garden she loved. We were all heartbroken even my OH who would refer to her as 'that bloody cat'. Would I have another one? Much as I loved her, I would probably say no. I have a dog now and although they are more demanding, I think for me that they are more 'one of the family'. What is it they say? A dog comes when you call, a cat takes a message and gets back to you!

We had a cat too until about three years ago and i dont think i would have another one now, plus we now have three jack russells who i think can possibly run faster than a cat!! I loved our moggy but dont think another one would fit in.

On a whim 15 years ago we went out to " look " at some Persian kittens, and came away with 3, Lillie, Harry and Thomas, and then came the ruffian " puss " he wandered onto the yard one dark night and stayed. Persians are so loving and so funny what they get up to, but alas one by one they have departed this mortal coil and the only one we have left is dear Thomas Tomkins, he is a Lilac Tabby and shines all different shades of pink in the sun ( when we ever get any ), he has gone a tad senile and the other night he went slightly blind, he doesn't go out and we don't move the furniture, but he is eating and doing his Pee's and Pooh's, in the right place I may add , he still greets us as we come in, be it for more food and loves nothing better than to sit on my hubby's lap and rub his head on hubby's stubbly chin hahahhahaa, but we have said we may not get another when Thomas Tomkins departs, we are going to try life without one for a while

I have 6- all out doors- 4 in the stables and 2 that live around the house and buildings, all have dry warm beds and are quite happy- catching mice and rabbits. Cats are much more independent than dogs- aren't they?

We have 4, 1 moggy & 3 Bengals (mom, dad & baby!). Moggy comes & goes as he pleases, usually returning home in the middle of the night when he knocks on the bedroom french doors so that he can be let in!

i have two , and have had them both about 12 years ...they are ace , they are totally part of the family , follow us around ...sleep on our bed ...come and greet us when we come in etc !! They give us hours of entertainment and are really good company ...up till 2 years ago i lived on my own , i would have been lonely without them i think ! We even miss their little furry faces when we are staying away overnight at shows !!

I have one Miss Minx, or Minxy for short, a rescue tabby and white and she is the ruler of our house! When we moved in together I brought her along and now she gets more attention from my OH than I do!!! She is very demanding, screams the house down if she runs out of Whiskers Temptations, and always gets the best spot in the bed! She is the lovliest cat though, so friendly and pretty. If I wanted another home for her I think my family would fight it out as to who could have her!

We have got two, both from cats protection, George they could'nt get rid of quick enough after 5 rehoming disasters, but he's settled in with us OK and he just does'nt want to be a house cat at all, he like catching and killing things, and supervising the goings-on. The other one, Tye we have had for two years and still cant get near him, he comes for food and thats it, but they are both nice in their own way, and George is a nice cat to have around, if you speak to him he always replies, and comes and watches the ponies being worked or brought in from the field, just like a dog but without the jumping up and yapping!

Can't really claim to own a cat, rather she owns us !
She turned up last Winter lean and shy. Caught a glimps of her several times. She took to roosting in the hen hut at the bottom of the garden when the weather was too severe for her to hunt. Fool that I am, I put out a little dish........ Since then a cat flap to the garage has been installed. She spurns her various beds there, and has insinuated herself into the kitchen rocking chair which she hogs and defends against all comers.
She will condescend to a little stroking now, IF she's in the mood, hitherto she was very much a tooth and claw job; a bit like engaging in a fight with a very mobile blackberry bush.
We didn't want a cat but have found ourselves to be adopted lol!
For what it's worth, she's reduced the rabbit population considerably, prefers her food warm, fresh and organic, doesn't like milk or anything out of a tin.
She rejoices in the name of Prrrtt and unless we offend her, I think she is probably here to stay.
