I've never had the need to buy fly rugs in the past. My ponies have never needed them. But my youngster has come in today, after the fabulous weather, with several fly bites, on his face and body. He's got a face mask on now to keep them off his face and I've covered him fly spray for the time being. The other two haven't reacted at all.
I'm going to have to get him a fly rug of some description I think. He's not been rugged all year so I'm worried he'll get too hot? What's the best one to go for?
Thanks in advance.

My Cob is in a Hy Guardian fly rug and I think they are really good they keep him quite protected from the flies- also with the help of fly spray too! hehe, I hope this has helped x

Thank You. Are they quite a light material? Poor lad's come in with a few more bites this evening. He still had his fly maks on, albeit in a slightly januty off one ear stlye. Must be the fashion! Had a look at the Premier Equine ones, I've bought from them before and was impressed at the quality. How do they fit?

I got an amigo one last year in the sale. Nice rug but not keen in the neck line by the withers as it has rubbed my girl slightly. I've just bought a saxon soft mesh combo so that i've got one to wear and one to wash and i'm really impressed with it. Has no neck line so hope it means it won't rub. I had a weatherbeeta one a fe wyears ago and the Saxon one is identical but cheaper. Nice colour too in bronze and chocolate trim. £27.99 from pre-equestrian off ebay.
