Myself and a freind looked into this on the net, and you tube, and while we are no bunny huggers it is barbaric !!!!!!!!! Deformed back ends the statte of the hocks and tendons and the soring !!!!!!! And thats elegant, me thinks not !

why are such people so cruel. i watched a peice that had been put on facebook and i couldnt believe the cruelty. if someone had told me what was beeing done i wouldnt have believed them.but ive seen it and i would love to get hold of the people.

They are disgusting, to say the least, this footage will be burned into my memory forever. I think these horrible people should have done to them what they are doing to these poor horses and worse - much worse. I am sure though sadly, that similar sorts of things happen here in the UK as I have heard many stories of the type of things done to our wonderful Welsh D's, in order to get the most extreme and dramatic trot from them in order to win and it sickens me that people can justify this sort of behaviour in search of a rosette etc. I for one hope that anyone - world over - who does this sort of thing, should burn in hell - and even that is too good for the likes of them.

I dont understand how hitting the horses over the head and kicking them in the gut helps them create the gait they are looking for?
Dont get me wrong, the way they make them horses move is totally awful but I dont see how being so cruel in regards to hitting them over the head helps these people achieve the horrible result they desire?

Even worse still is the bittery they use.... no wonder they can ride with such long reins or with little contact... i do recall some one selling their " collection " on ebay.. one bit alwasy stuck out it was called a bike chain bit...and it was actually a bike chain ( or certainly looked like one ) for the mouthpiece.. i was horrified by this collection and there were several NOT one ws a simple snaffle.. they looked like something from the medi evil period.. not something that would be used today.. here is link as too some of the bittery some are horrifiying and i ould not use them.. i am in no way calling the western riding but these bits are so cruel twisted mouth pieces on shanks. www.statelinetack.com/item/professionals-choice-sliding-gag-slow-twist-bit/E003297/ |

I read/watched that article in H&H, i knocked me physically ill. The 'gait' they achieve for starters is completely unnatural and sickening to watch, why there is a market for that I have no idea, are these people delusional? And the methods used to achieve it are nothing short of barbaric.

i have just watched a video on this and i am sick right down to my stomach it nearly mad me cry the cruelty that goes on its not right and we as horse people should get to gether and protest against it !

Absolutely heartbreaking.
The "gait" they are trying to get doesn't even look nice and certainly is far from natural.
Lets hope the American authorities do something to stamp this out.

I went to america in april for 3 weeks as part of my uni course, we mainly went to horse racing and western yards like churchill downs, kentucky horse park, breeders cup, reigning, cutting etc but we did have one visit to a yard with these horses and it was horrific they all had weights on their feet and heavy chains around there legs in the stables. The stables were kept in near darkness and the horses only ever see daylight at a show. I got some photos and videos on my phone. The lady running the yard kept making excuses up for the weights and chains but we all left feeling angry. Im glad its been bought to light recently and hope something more will be done in america. Also when we were over there tennessee walking horses were a breed of western pony that have an odd walking/trotting gait that are fantastic to hack out on mountains etc where these horses were called saddlebreds? So bit confused over that. |

that was heartwrenching. The fear in those poor horses and the sheer hopelessness in their eyes is so saddening.
The horse at then end pulled my heartstrings, no longer comfortable to just stand there, sick sick people.

I saw this a month or two ago & was disgusted. There is a petition you can sign against it, apparently Pepsi have stopped Sponsorship for their 'big show' due to reports of cruelty. Just YT 'Tenessee Walking Horses' there's so many videos  I commented on one video of a Tenessee Walking Horse for sale, saying "Wish I had the money to save this horse from such cruelty. Its not natural" Only to be replied to saying "It's completely natural - you'd know nothing!" I'm not thick I can see the weights on the poor things feet  It's disgusting, will try & find the link of the petition & post it on here.
