i'm having problems with my 13.1h mare. she has been broken in for about 5 years, and knows all the commands but is known to be very stubborn and lazy. a few weeks ago when i first got her, i took her on a hack and she was perfect, not a problem, i have also rode her in the field also no problem, but a a week later another girl rode her and i was told she wouldnt move at all, i didnt believe them since she'd been so perfect, but then i tried to ride her, the next week and she just wouldnt move, in the end i had to get of lead her and then get back on, then she'd keep stopping and bucking or just refusing to move, i have tried the whip and it doesnt make a difference, we managed to get half way on the hack and then she wouldnt go any further even when i got off, then the week after she just wouldnt move at all, and since then everytime she just wont move i cant get her out of the front gate! the farriers been and checked her feet and says they are fine and shes been vetted, what can i do?

firstly just to rule it out , get the saddler out to check saddle fits correctly and the dentist to check teeth , it can be something as simple as that causing a problem. once thats ruled out , it sound like a your going to have to sit on and win the battle getting off wont help thats what she want to evade work ! , i had a cob that refused to move and after that it was napping , i had to just get my leg on (backed up with schooling whip behind my leg) till he moved he did throw a few bucks which he got a tap for ,after a battle of wills i won and he never did it again . he did try it with everyone who rode him . dont back of until you get what you ask for good luck x
