After reading a lot of threads recently about people having their horses PTS i realised that i am have been keeping my old girl going just for my sake, i decided 2 months ago that when the vet next came on the yard i would have her done but the deed is being done this afternoon. Am abslouted devasted it has to be done but her back legs have been causing her a lot of pain, if she goes in the pond she struggles to get out, and she is losing lots of weight. Jet is a 12 year old GSD, she was a working Police dog having been bred by Herts Constabulary and then given to Dyfed Powys where she had the reputation of being a right bit*h, she was released from service when she was 7 and i had her. She came as a guard dog but became a good companion and will really miss her.

Happy to help

So sorry, I still cry to this day every time I think of my favorite collie, who I had to have PTS 10 years ago now, they give so much love that I could not regret a minute of the loss I feel now she is gone.
I know exactly how you will be feeling, so sending cyber hugs. xxx

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
your sweet girl will not be gone just gone ahead,
thinking of you

Its a hard decision to make and its heartbreaking but we owe it to our four legged friends not to let them suffer
