bit harsh selling a 19 year old pony with issues now ive just let my 17 year old go out on loan but hes been lightly hacked all his life and is fit as a flee but if this was him i would rather have him PTS than be sold to someone who may not look after his medical issues correctly!

This horse should either go on loan as a companion only (but we know the issues surrounding that), put out to grass in retirement, or as people have said, sadly pts. Why can people not look after their animals in their twilight years, as the animal has looked after them?

Passing a problem on for others to deal with...........how many times will it happen!!!! Its about time people realised horses are a lifetime commitment, even into there old age. Take responsibility and do whats best by the horse.............I will get off my soap box now but it makes me mad too!!!

I hope she does the right thing and retires her at the farm you suggested. If she loves her as dearly as she has said then that should be her first choice for the horse!!!

Is the horse forsale? Think if she's that old with them problems then surely the kindest thing would be to pts.

So do I as she seems to have ignored the vets advice. Advertising her for light ridden work and benefiting from hacking out!!!!!

So typical!!! Heartbreaking sale, dearly loved blah blah blah............................Oh and would like £250 for her!!!!!! Does'nt want to retire her an pay for her up keep. I think so many are passed on because people are not prepared to pay for their horses retirement! Says she only had her for 10 months and that she has had a tough life. Now wants to pass her on again! Its heartbreaking that this mare at 19 years old has such an unsure future.

Iv just received a message from her, she thinks its fine to sell her on, for light hacking/ companion. I have just seen the pic of the mare, and with her swayed back, you wouldn't let a baby sit on her!! She cant afford to keep her, as she is going to be getting a new horse soon! Cruel selfish person! Sorry for my moan x AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Just as I thought! So sad but so common! What the point in getting a vets opinion just to ignore it? I understand that she has not had the horse long and it was probably passed on to her, but she should not do the same. Poor horse, I hope she gets a home as a companion and is looked after or this girl faces up to her responsibilites and has her PTS. She does not deserve a new horse!!!!

I kept my old girl up to the point where I knew it was time to say goodbye. I had a new baby and things were incredable tight to say the least ! I had no sofa and sat on the floor, no Tv but baby and horse came first !!! I WOULD HAVE STARVED BEFORE I SAW MY HORSE BE PALMED OFF FOR £250. people like this make me sick. Rant over
