HI, I have a grey pony and no matter what I wrap him up in he still manages to get poo stains under his rug on his legs.
Last night he had a fleece hood on, (he got stain on his eye!) Light fleece with belly cover, with a combo rug on top. He managed to get poo up both back legs from Hock to flank and both front shoulders. I couldn't believe it, should of taken a picture as it was very impressive def a personal best. BUt didn't have time as had to wash him for tack and turnout.(must be lucky he won four firsts) but seriously can anyone please recommend a rug or anything that might help me keep him clean.
Huge thanks in advance.

after bathing with a good whitening shampoooooooo, lather in a mane and tail spray on offending areas, and i mean lots to seal the hair whilst wet.
i use a turnout rug with neck over my fleece/ cotton rug, make sure its one with good bum cheek coverage.
Because you have sealed hair you should be able to rub of majority of pooh with a dry towel and baby wipes xxxx

I have a coloured with a lot of white, so feel your pain!! I've found that when he does get lots of stable stains (it ALWAYS happens), I don't tend to waste lots of time rebathing him in the morning. A quick scrub with a damp towel to get the biggest off, then chalk over it whilst he's damp, chuck him in the lorry/trailer, and just give a quick flick with a soft brush when we arrive to get the excess chalk off - always covers stains perfectly

I have given up and just wash them the morning of the show and then take off all rugs and let him live like a pony at home! After all they weren't born for us to lace in rugs?

Waterproof your stable rugs and kneck rug (involves washing and then reproofing these rugs, either by spraying or buying washing with the reproofer. Failing that, rug him in a turnout overnight, they are so much more flexible nowadays and not the stiif new zealands of yesterday so your pony should still be comfortable.

I have all light coloured ponies bar one!! Best thing ive EVER used and thats after 22 years of showing is cowbody magic green spot remover, i was a bit wary of it first as its not cheap but after going down at some ungodly hour in the morning to find a grey mare i have covered in green from head to toe i got some and you just spray it on the green, rub it with fingers and wipe off and its a complete god-send i have 3 bottles just incase lol!
