When harvey is home and settled at the beginning of july (hopefully) im going to get my little 11hh darty started and broken to ride, as of yet i have no jockey! Any advise on what to do as im sure im not the only person whos come across this before? I have sat on him before but my legs touch the floor he was fine with weight on him so highly doubt there will be a problem as hes a cayberry darty and they are renowned for being super quiet and good to do. (hat off to Jane there). Hoping to get him to a few end of season shows, would also love to do lead rein but have no willing kiddies at the min.

i know Terry Clynes used to break for people and he is super tiny, may be worth giving him a call?

Get a pair of overalls stuffed with sand (for weight) and straw/ bags in the top half (for shape). This is what we use @ Cayberry Stud as a dummy jockey

I have a small 9yo jockey but he has absolutely no experience with breaking, other than just sitting on jaimie's little Sec A and walking round.....

When you get to the stage that you need a real mini jockey we'd be glad to pop up a couple of times to help (no charge, just for fun). Cerys is 8 and has now backed 6 of our ponies. We're only in Warrington ;D

Oooh Cerys will probalby look ridiculous as a LR jockey I'm afraid, even though she's still within the correct age - her legs are way too long You need to find someone dinkier for shows, but she'll be happy to get on board at first and get him used to a jockey

My son would look just about ok on a LR, but he is too old after the end of this season...... As Nici, he would be fine to get on at yours, or maybe do something at local level where age isn't so important?
