CRANKS ON LIVERY YARDS!

Where do I stand- here's the situation.
There is a lady on my livery yard who I have known for 14 years. She has watched me grow up & was very friendly with my family when we had a horse paired up with hers. Between us we would share the days out through the week who finished the horses off of a night, we would turn out & her bring in. I also used to school her horse for her when she was diagnosed with MS.
Then teenagers being teenagers I never went down as much & when I got back into it full time she turned slightly sour but kept us sweet as my auntie was still paired up with her. Sadly my aunties horse passed away last year in may but as I still had mine I kept the night time routine until she kept forgetting to feed mine.
But this is when she went really rude however none of this is relevant.

To get mine & a friends horse out the barn we have to walk past her aggressive horse , this horse lunges over the door and on a number of occasions it has had hold of a rug & if it was flash there would of been a nasty cut!
To resolve the problem a bar was put across , he could still see over the top but just not reach the horse. This was up for 2 months & the owner has never been happy about it. However we have forgotten to take it down 3 times & its literally been for 5 minutes that its been left up so she has took the bar down. But now where do we stand to get this horse away from me and my horse? & could we claim if her horse injured us?
I apologise if this isn't easy to read I'm just completely stressed out because this horse can be dangerous!

Might sound awful but have you considered wafting a whip past it as you go past to keep it back?

See this is where it gets hard with her having MS her balance is limited and if that horse then got head shy an shied away an knocked her over I would feel so guilty. Surely you'd just rather have a bar across for 2 minutes. I feel bad but I would do anything to get it off my horse. My mates horse is also very scared of it and now runs past his stable putting the handelers in danger! God horsey people!

I'd speak to your yard owner who needs to have a word with the owner. You shouldn't have to put up with that.

Spoke to yard owner she agrees with us but she said she can't force anyone to have a bar across???

cant they move it so no one has to go past it?

Can't it be moved to the other end where nobody has to pass it???

Whilst the Yard Owner cannot force the lady to have the bar up surely the YO has a duty of care to all her liveries and can take steps to ensure their safety ie having the horse moved to where he will not be a danger to others.

Otherwise is there someone else up at the yard who is good friends with the lady whose horse is dangerous who coud have a quiet word and see if an amicable solution cannot be found.

The YO has a duty to do a risk assesment and if the risk is reduced by the bar she would be failing in her duty of care unless of course there is a better way of reduceing the risk. I think her excuse is because she does not want to upset someone.
