I recently bought 5 photo's online with equinational - proofs looked great etc etc however when they arrived (very quick service btw) 2 were very substandard, very fuzzy and not good enough to display :-( very expensive as well but as my daughter took 2 reserve champs we felt we needed some decent pics to record the moment). Can't say I will be rushing to buy from them again. I appreciate that they need to make money bit they charge an absolute fortune even for email pics. Perhaps if they lowered their price then they would sell more and people wouldn't need to copy from website.......

Can I just ask, the people that have got photos they are not happy with did they contact the photographers, what happened then? Also nobody needs to "copy" (steal) them of the website because they are expensive. The choice is buy or (eeep thats not worth that) don't buy. When i went into the shop the other day and noticed polo's were 60p (errr I think I've got old they were only 10p the other day ;D) I didn't think "oh thats a lot of money for sugar and water I'll just pop them in my pocket instead"

personally dont think its stealing as it has equinational plastered all over it, so its pretty useless to us, but yes agree we have a choice to buy them, but sometimes if the pic is quite worth 19 pound but its still worth showing your friends! i would tho buy 3 for 20 if they wernt quite right! we just get ripped off because its to do with horses like everything else, like i said how can they justify 19 pound when nearly every other photo you have at theme parks etc are 5 for 20??? i know a machine takes the pic and not a photographer but still does not justify that ridiculous price!

Just playing devils advocate re theme park vs event photographer... Cost of equipment - the camera's and printing equipement won't be in the same league at the theme park. Yes cost of paying actual photographer (training, transport (a biggy with the cost of desiel), NI, TAX, etc etc) Website hosting, backing up of images, computers... Insurance - suspect theme park won't need seperate insurance for photography Target - The theme park is already making money out of you, entry, over priced food etc, it doesn't need to make all its business the profit on a few photos. I could go on and on, its simply not a fair comparison. I've never had any dealings with Equinational and they charge more than I do but they are a lot bigger and an awful lot more sucessful ;D ETA - simply, yes it is stealing I'm afraid, photographer absolutely holds the copyright, watermarked or not.

ok fair point but as you said you dont charge as much and if they are more successful then surely they can afford to charge less - ie asda and corner shop comparason??? all i am saying is 19 pound is a joke imo ps cant you start doing the events if you charge less then?? what do you charge for eg?

also just another thing everything you listed then were nothing to do with the paper and ink, all diesel, insurance etc - so like i said i wont not buy - i would just rather a few more for my money and more people would buy, why cant equinational see this???

My local Capture U charges 12.50 for a 7x5 mounted and they're brilliant! Especially for sj shots. I'm surprised at 19 per photo.

Horse and Hound is worth a look
Equinaitonal seem allergic to my horse - they either miss his classes or forget we're in the ring :-( Even when we went champion! That day I knew H&H were there and I took a look on there site - have since bought all mys pics from H&H and been very happy

Fruity is there an easy way to view H&H photos on line? Whenever I've loowed they seem to make you look through the entire album of pics from that show - not much fun if your in the last class if the day of a 5 day show!!!!

ahh, no! I've been lucky cos we're were always up front.
But the lady at H&H is amazingly nice and helpful (sent me larger proofs etc to choose from) - perhaps she has the pics by class??

Agree about Horse and Hound. Much better quality quick service my only moan is that the lady only works on a Wednesday.
