We are due to pick up our little chihuahua in the next few weeks... Just wondered if anybody new of anywhere that sold tiny collars?.
All the ones we have seen, seem huge!
Thanks in advance ;D

I've never had a pup quite that small, but I have got a collar that I bought when one of mine was little, it's sort of woven and you just push the prong on the buckle through the material to make it the size required, unfortunately I can't remember where I got it As your pup won't be going out for walks until it's had it's jabs perhaps you could use a cat collar to begin with just to get it used to having a collar on.

There's a lady on my facebook that makes them, I'm assuming she'll do any size you want? Really pretty ones, message me if you want a link.

Yes! Obviously I have no ideas to take her out before her jabs but will still want her to get used to a collar!! Although even when she is 8 weeks plus the smallest of collars will still be too big.. Milliesmum yes the link would be great!! ;-)

crazychick - what is on the inside of the collars? My little Chiuhua has had lots of lovely collars bought and made for him, but even the softest of leather rubs the hair off his neck The only thing he can wear are velvet cat collars - as the velvet doesnt rub.

As above I would suggest a velvet kitten/cat collar to start. They are very soft, cheap, and should be small enough for a tiny puppy. I have a Chi/Affen cross who was miniscule when she was a puppy and velvet collars worked really well and didn't rub or irritate.

I got a very inexpensive one off ebay for my Chihuahua, loads of choice on there. He has now outgrown the first one and I have bought him a couple more bigger ones

LP they are ribbon, as the patten you see on the front is also on the back. The pattern is based on a leather collar that is lined with a felt type material so they are nice and soft

As to not taking him out before his jabs it is common practice now to socialise puppies as early as possible and to carry them about from a very early age, We took our 8 week old lab puppy out and about from the day she arrived she was tucked inside my jacket and met all sorts of people. We went to the Irish draft show the day after we bought her

I don't know if my comment about 'not going out for WALKS' before having jabs has caused offence, but it certainly wasn't meant to! All I meant was that as there is no need for the collar be used for restraint and no danger of the pup wriggling out of it a soft cat type collar would be suitable for getting the pup used to wearing a one. Apologies if it was taken the wrong way

No offense taken just pointing out the ideal time to socialise a puppy is from 8 to 12 weeks which as a rule is the time they have not had a full course of vaccinations

I brought my little Chihuahua a tiny blue dog collar with diaomties on. Can't remember where I got it but it's the cutest thing ever! Sadly he's out grown it so it's for sale. Yes he has a bandanna too he wore collars and coats from day one and he got a harness to be lead off when he had him vacs. I think I brought it from the east of england show last year.

We are branching out into plaited / diamante dog collars - we make show browbands by the way (Facebook - Taliesin show browbands), we will also be making matching children's headbands.

The best place is eBay. Pets at home do some super small ones - they go to XXXS. Make sure you get the pup a harness for walks though as chihuahuas necks are really fragile so always better to use a harness x
