Different makes fit different shaped heads so I have found that you need to try them on and find the best fit.

I agree with penduk , I went to buy a new hat at weekend and had in my mind the Charles Owen H2000. Tried it on and it just didn't feel, fit or look right. I ended up with the CO Fiona, it just felt right and looked much better. So best to go and try them x

For dressage, the move is away from the velvet hat to the sportier models. I have the Charles Owen Ayr8 but in the leather look. Charlotte Dujardin wears it but I had mine first! so she clearly copied me. It looks really smart, is much much lighter to wear than the CO velvets yet I feel really secure in it, very low profile. I think I shall also go for a brown one to match my tweed.
I have a racesafe back protector but for eventing I would go for the air jacket as well.

Personally I hate the Fiona hat.. I don't mind it on other people but can't wear my own

op- try the ayr8... its like the gpa only a higher test standard... you can now get it in leather too, its worn by both dressage and showjumping riders...
