We are competing in the novice SHT - does anybody know the rules on what bit is correct (I thought it would be a snaffle as a novice class) but lorry along way from ring and I dont want to get to the ring and everybody else is in Pelhams/doubles. Any help would be greatly received.

I'm having the same predicament for my classes! I'm just going with the pelham for the week! :-) x

I would choose a snaffle, but could someone take your pelham bridle to the ring with you and do a quick change if necessary? I think it would be easier if novice classes were all snaffle bridle only, then everyone is the same.

Take both with you to ringside (then if your not happy with he/she you can swap!) - always nicer to see a novice going nicely in a snaffle !!

I spoke to Betsy to clarify the rules and she said the rule is "any suitable bridle" hope this helps anybody in the same predicament .

Use the Pelham if that's what you normally show in. I've done the novice last 2 years and tbh the horses in snaffled were very few!
