Taken from their website - admittedly statement was made Tuesday.
Royal Welsh is definitely on Persistent rumours that next week’s Royal Welsh Show is being cancelled because of the weather were denied today (Tuesday) for the second time in a week by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
“There is absolutely no truth whatsoever in these reports which increasingly appear to be the result of irresponsible rumour-mongering,” said Royal Welsh Chief Executive, David Walters. “I repeat that they are completely false and unfounded. In fact, the rumours have become so persistent that they appear to be circulating with malicious intent but I want to assure everyone that the show is definitely on and that any suggestion that it might be called off has never been on the agenda. We look forward to welcoming all our visitors to Llanelwedd next week as usual.”
The false reports materialised following the curtailment by one day of the Royal of England show at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, due to continuous heavy rain and floods in the midlands and the north.

They should pull the plug on it, conditions there are terrible the rings are a bog and there's traffic choas.........lorries were stuck for 3 hours this morning waiting to get in, people unloading on the road to ride in? 10 mile ques on every route in, people parking their cars in the designated areas and no buses can get through the traffic to collect them so the are public walking to and from the car park which takes up to an hour, its hell there?

We arrived at the showground just after 7.30 am and got on to horse hill straight away . I was in a pair of cream trousers and joddy boots and i've arrived home with only slight splashes of mud on the very bottom of trousers ( and I seem to attract mud usually ).the showrings weren't bad to begin with but got gradually worse as the day went on .yes there was an announcement at about 8.35-8.45 am that people were unloading ponies on the road and walking them in so they were holding some classes up . I believe it is going to be nice weather tomorrow but Wednesday according to the forecast is going to be horrendous .

Couldn't agree more john.We were due to travel down Wed for a Thursday class. Not going to bother.Apart from the state of the show it seems a little insensitive to be driving thru' the devastation that is Gloucs and Worcs in pursuit of a rosette, even if it is the Royal Welsh.Always next year.

We are staying at home too, out of respect for the well being of our Cobs who may/or may not, have to endure hours of being stranded on a mountain road, or a muddy field, depending on how roads and tundra cope with downpours due for wed/thursday. Watching on TV, it is very apparent that if it rains on Wednesday as forecast, there wont be a ring to ride in on Thursday. No point spoiling a good ridden cob with a potentially hazerdous experience for the sake of riding round the ring at the RWS. Stay warm, safe and dry, and like Demezanli said, there is always next year.

i showed inhand yesterday and my ponys socks came out the ring almost as clean as they went in i find it hard to understand how lorries can get stuck on hard standing on the side of a mountain lol. the car parks for public are another story if your in a car dont expect to park but expect to be stuck in traffic for ages and at this moment it is drizzlein over the ground

Well l have been there all week, we got straight onto horse park hill at bottom level, just above the stables. Had a fantastic time. What a load of trovel some of you folks speak on here..about out of respect for those in those flooded area..come on get real thats life, as horrible as it is... it happens.. Perhaps next year will you stay at home for me especially if l have a crisis !!!
Now being a caring responsible owner of your horses is a totally differant matter l can see why you wouldn't want to ride your fiesty steed on the ground especially in the ridden classes.
I personally didn't show my in-hand ponies for all those reasons. I wanted them to have a good experience for their first visit to RWAS, however for our particular classes it actually would have been ok.
I think the committee at RWAS need congratulating for being positive enough to go ahead with the show, it ultimately was going to end up with some of those people being ultra negative about it, l think they have done a brilliant job, given all the uneccesary gossip mongering that went on beforehand.
I think if you believe they did a good job it would be nice to let them know that instead of all the critisim.!! I am doing it via their website.
The only critisim was the rather erratic judging of the section A classes, however she was the judge and she chose what she thought was the best pony and l certainly believe the best pony won (must say she is one of my favourite mares) and was a deserved winner. Thanks Jan and Adrian for allowing me to be just part of your success !!
Lastly l never got plastered in mud during the whole time l was there and that was without wellies and protective covering. Just a few splashes on the bottom of my trousers each day.
For those of you that didn't go it was definitely your lose !!!
