I took my little dog to Equifest this year along with over 100 pooh bags, some in very pocket - just in case !!!!! I always pick up after my dog, as I'm sure all responsible dog owners do and did at Equifest. However on walking round I saw many dog dollops that hadn't been picked up So I say please please those who don't pick up your dogs Pooh, don't spoil it for us conscientious dog owners. If shows Banned Dogs for this reason, I would be well and truly stuck, disappointed & angry at those irresponsible dog owners. If its your dogs pick it up, don't leave it. If you don't want to pick your dogs pooh up then don't have a dog. So shame on you - who walked off and left your dogs pooh.

I had a huge row with a lady on Thursday, she kept walking past our wagon with 4 small dogs not on leads, my 2 dogs were tied to our wagon, but each time she went past my 2 went crazy!! After the 3rd or 4th time she went past, I flipped, she had no idea where her dogs were cra*%ing, and my 4 yr old granddaughter was staying with us, and I was worried she may end up in it!!!
This said person walked about 100 yards in front of her dogs so had no idea what they were doing, at one point one of them mounted another dog that was minding his own business and was again tied to his wagon!!!
Well I flew out of my wagon and yelled at her to get her bl"*+dy dogs on a lead, I yelled what made her so different to every other person there that managed to abide by the rules, and also yelled it was a fine able offence as far as Equifest were concerned !!
Needless to say I didn't see her again, it makes me so mad when it gets spoilt for the responsible dog owners, and my girls enjoy coming, they love the walks and the attention...
So rant over!!!! Had a fab time by the way :-)

Bigmama - you were lucky then, one dog had left its pile right by the electric hookup box by where we parked and it wasn't very nice. Plus I saw plenty about or should I say my dog saw them before me And yes caspa plenty of dogs around off leads-even though it did state all dogs to be kept on leads. But all in all a lovely time.

Also went and saw a number of dogs ----hs Shame how some owners will eventually spoil it for others. Lots of lovely dogs, shame a small dog comp couldnt be put on as a bit of fun. But then it is a horse show after all.

Not that he would do anything, but thems the rules and if everyone let their dogs loose it would be a riot! Every single pocket on every item of clothing we have always has bags in, it just makes sense. Personally I dont want to tread in dog poo so doubt anyone else would either!

i wernt to watch the highlands and sat down on the grass only to put my hand in some not a nice experience at all YUCK, My hubby is so tight he used to buy tesco value nappy bags to pick up our rottie do dos, the bag was so thin his finger when through the bag into to poo. I have never laughed so much, chuckling now thinking about it! Tesco finest bags now. Honestly though there really isn't any excuse! I always pick it up as much as it grosses me out. My dogs seem to wait for the most inappropriate moment to drop their knickers, their so naughty!

It's not rocket science, if you don't want to pick up poop, don't get a dog, simple.
My pet hate is cat poo, we have a couple of neighbours who have cats in double figures, bloody things poo on my driveway and garden, it really makes me gag. I don't mind picking up after my own animals but fail to see why I should have to pick up after other peoples.
There should be a law preventing people from having more than two cats per household, and they should be made to have enclosed outdoor runs so their owners deal with the poop!

Aww MM we have cat problems at home too. Really annoys me.
Anyway back to the subject in hand, there are so many people who just turn up at shows and open the door for the dogs to get out and go wandering. They dont know what or where they are doing their business and they obviously dont care. Its one of my biggest pet hates but not just at shows, anywhere.
I also must point out that we never let ours run off the leads but when you are walking past wagons with dogs tied outside they all go bonkers!!!! Not excusing woman mentioned as she was out of order but lots of people tie to wagons which also can cause problems for others.

We went to Equifeast last year and took our little dog, we were watching the evening performance on Thurs, a little boy came in with his dog on a lead and parents, it he had a poo in the middle of everybody, the little boy stood shouting for his mum and dad to come and help him clear it up, the mother burst out laughing told him to leave it, and carried on regardsless. The next day all dogs band from the indoor arena.

I agree with you all - it is disgusting - equifest or anywhere ! Clear up after you dog !!! Last year dogs were everywhere off the lead and it was litterally a mine field of poo. This year it was BETTER - most dogs were on the lead and MOST owners cleared up. As usual there are always those people who cant be bothered and just ignore the rules and pretend they cant see what their dogs are doing YUK Sooner or later all dogs will get banned from everywhere - due to these thoughtless / inconsiderate people and then all the lovely dog owners - will suffer

I gather some one slipped on the mess left, not a nice experiance and SHAME on the person/people who walked off. I did ask Jenny this year if she would put an announcement out on the PA system to reminding people about picking up the P----. But obviously this fell on some deaf ears.

When i walked the course with my daughter i had to concentrate more on where i was putting my feet then the actual course.
shame on you german shepard owner!!!

some very kind person let a dog poop outside my lorry - yes my poor dad stood in it b4 i had chance to clean it up!
really annoyed that they couldnt even be bothered to clean it up! dog must of been off its lead too for it to poop outside my lorry steps as we were boxed in - so not somewhere you would walk a dog on the lead!
its a real shame that irresponsible dog owners could end up ruining it for everyone else!

It's awful, because 90% of dog owners keep their dogs on their leads, and pick up after them at shows. It's the minority that let down the majority. I get even more frustrated when owners let their BIG dogs roam about freely, because not everybody likes dogs, no matter how soppy and loveable they appear to be! At various shows this year, I've seen German Shepherds/Rottweilers (crosses)/a variety of others that were HUGE. I'm not a very tall person, and if one of them started jumping up at me, they'd knock me clean over!
I love dogs, but at shows, they should be kept on leads! Not everyone likes dogs, big or small, and are there for horses. It's lovely we can bring our puppy to shows, but I ensure we have bags with us, and he's kept on a short(ish) lead. Why can't everyone abide by the same rules?!
There was an incident at PUK, where a little dog had been tied to a lorry near us, and had broken free. The dog was lovely, but we were right near the road where the wagons were coming in to park. We attempted to grab the dog, but he shot off, straight in front of the wagon. If we hadn't been at our lorry at the time, and we hadn't been screaming and flailing our arms about at the driver, the lorry wouldn't have stopped, as it had not seen the little dog shoot straight out under it. A very hair-raising moment for everyone!

I had one of those little poo bag dispensers hanging from my dogs lead, so they were always available It's disappointing that you can't carry your little dogs into the indoor now, as it makes it difficult to go in and watch especially if it's too hot to leave your dog in the lorry

Unfortunately a lot of people in the blue stables seemed to be using the BSPA rings as dog walking ground and not clearing up after them - not so great for those of us who then had to compete in those rings at the weekend!!

I had a fantastic time at equifest BUT while videing my daughter in a ridden M and M I slipped on a huge pile of doggie doo and landed in it ...much to the amusement of my friends... this was where people were sitting and children were about...
I then was parked next to lovely people who had a french bulldog ..smashing dog but they but it on a lunge line and it happily came around into our camp and left presents.
Next door but one had several well behaved assorted dogs in proper dog runs, I was impressed as they were impeccable looked after and good....till we staggered back from the evening performance to find they were all running about doing there business around us. One ended up lost although not sure if them getting out was a accident or not.
Then to top it all a nice little terrier founds its way into the caravan and then promptly did a pxxh outside my door, which I had to pick up and move.
I am all for dogs coming with people but I was honestly sick of sh1te totally by the end of the week... TOTALLY

My JRT was attacked by a boxer on the first day, it was loose. The owners where very apologetic and said she wouldnt have hurt her, but its not very nice having to swing your dog round on the end of a lead! It was kept under control for the rest of the week though. My poor dog has never walked so far and slept very well up on the luton at night. She also lived on a diet of m&s mini sausages, thanks to my fellow camp mates! Met lots of lovely new doggie friends, apart from a whippet whose owner is above picking up its mess (

Just going to resurrect this post again as I feel it is too important not to! Last year there was a pair of large dogs that kept "escaping" near to where our tent was. Thankfully no crap was left but all our bread was eaten! May I suggest that if anyone sees a dog running loose, that they catch it and take it to the security hut. That way the owner will have to own up to breaking the rules to pick up their pet! It is very clearly - not sure if it was last year - written in the rules that all dogs must be on leads at all times.

So are dogs still allowed to go ? as we planned to take ours ,i think everyone should tackle pooh offenders and name and shame them get your phones out and take a pic of the people failing to clear up after their dogs ,perhaps if Betsy made a rule of if you leave your dog pooh you will also be leaving the show and have offenders removed from the show altogether .

As per the rules on the schedule - yes you are allowed to take dogs but they must be on leads at all times and are not allowed inside buildings. I agree with the naming and shaming but if I can catch and have the time, I will be taking any stray dogs straight to security so the owners have no choice but to fess up to breaking the rules.
