Ok, just feel the need to have a wee rant. Sorry.
On Friday 10th August, I had seen a "leather hunter bridle with reins" advertised on a facebook group. I asked what size it is and how much the seller was asking in a comment below the ad.
She sent me a PM, saying it is cob size and wants £35. I agreed to buy it.
We exchanged private messages with payment details, my name and address etc. This was all on the same morning I had asked about the bridle.
So, Friday afternoon, I caught a bus down to the nearest town, to pay money directly into the seller's bank account. This trip took 2 hours in total, as we only have a once hourly bus service with the bus down arriving within a few minutes of the next bus back. Left house at 4pm, bus was due at 4.15pm but was 10 minutes late. The journey takes 15 minutes. The bus coming back the other way, leaves the town centre at 40 mins to the hour. This means that I had an hour to wait in town for the next bus home.
Anyway, I went round to my local branch of the seller's bank and paid in the cash (£35), then had 45 minutes to wait before I could get home. Arrived home at 6pm and immediately contacted the seller, by PM on facebook, to let her know the money was in her account. She replied, thanking me, and told me that she would post the bridle the following morning. (Saturday 11th August).
Waited all week...no sign of the bridle. There was someone at home all day every day (either me or my Mum), and our postman always waits for an answer if he knocks on the door. No bridle, no knock on the door, no "sorry you were out" card either.
I sent the seller a private message on facebook on Monday evening to let her know I had not received the bridle. NO REPLY.
STILL no reply by Tuesday evening, so I posted on the facebook group asking her to contact me as the bridle hadn't yet arrived. NO REPLY. Commented on my own post again on Wednesday morning, asking her to contact me. STILL NO REPLY !
Sent another private message last night, asking her to reply within 48 hours. If not, I would report the conversation by PM to facebook AND call the police regarding theft. STILL NO REPLY !
Another lady contacted me by PM, to say that she is also still waiting for an item, which she has paid for, and is having the same problem with this seller. She has been waiting since 23rd JULY !!!
Unknown to me, a friend of mine sent a PM to the seller last night, and got a reply straight away. My friend forwarded this conversation to me by PM.
At that point, I lost the plot and commented on my post AGAIN on the facebook group. I said, on a public group, that if the seller did not respond to my messages, that I would call the police to report her theft of my £35.
THIS MORNING, I received a PM from the seller. She said " Hi sorry about this, really I am. I've not stolen from you ! If you don't have it by end of next week I will give you a full refund." These are her exact words, as written in my private message.
I replied, thanking her for getting in touch, and asked whether she got proof of posting. I also asked her for a full description of the packaging, where she posted it, whether her name and address were on it as the sender, and whether she used my full name or Miss S. *******. I explained that as I worked for Royal Mail for 8 years, in the Mail Centre where her parcel would be taken after leaving her Post Office (Brechin), that I could phone the shift managers on any of the shifts to see if the bridle could be found. Guess what.....NO REPLY !!!!!
I also received a couple of very rude comments on my post on the facebook group, by a man who said that he helped the seller to weigh and wrap the bridle. He said that he would call the police as I am harassing the seller, and had I checked with MY local delivery office to see if the parcel was there !
I do not believe that she has in fact posted the bridle at all.
She has been on facebook after I sent a polite message asking her to contact me, but she chose to ignore my message (but replied immediately to my friend who asked her about something else).
I am SO, SO angry that having paid in good faith, making a trip specifically to pay her, that she can't even reply to my messages or even be honest with me.
WHY do people do that ?
Oh, and I'm apparently the "bad guy" for daring to post on a public group about this when SHE wouldn't reply or make any attempt to contact me !!!!!
