our JR used to be absolutely terrible... then all of a sudden he just grew out of it.
We just used to make sure he hadn't just eaten before going in the car, mainly to minimise the amount of vomit we had to clear up.
Making sure he could see out of a window seemed to help to a small degree.

We stopped taking our carsick one out except very locally for walks - she was supposed to be my show/lorry dog but not much fun for either of us! Now she's fine with the car, I don't know if she's just grown out of it (now nearly 11yo!) or it was the fact that going in the car meant fun in the shape of walks. And she doesn't mind the vets, being very sociable, which is the only other reason for her going out in the car.

Millie was crate trained at home, then travelled everywhere in the car in her crate. We've always taken her everywhere with us.
She does love her crate, sees it as her 'safe place' and happily gets in there and settles down.
Not sure if this would help with the sickness if there's an anxiety element to it? I wouldn't recommend going down the tablet route as one or two people have said their dogs took days to be 'right' again after having them. It might be worth trying the magnetic bands that you can get for motion sickness though?

You can get anti travel sickness tablets from vets that might help. Maybe have her ears checked. Since I have problems with my ears I get travel sick. It's a balance thing. Just an idea.

My Jack Russell was terrible as a pup.Grew out of it and loves the car, she always travels in a travelling cage and can't see out. Don't know if this helps.
