We very sadly have to find a new home for Nicky, our 14.2hh Dutch Warmblood mare due to owner now being at University and lack of time due to 4 other horses.
Nicky is a beautiful mare, very well bred and great to have around. She can be shy of strangers at first but once she gets to know you she is lovely. She loves a good scratch on the neck and if you've got carrots she's your best friend!
We are looking to loan Nicky as a companion as she does head shake when ridden and sometimes she can become so distressed with it she can rear up. Therefore she MUST NOT go to a home where people will try to ride her as you must understand it is not naughtiness it is the head shaking. She does not do it at any other times it is just when tacked up and when you try to ride her.
She s a really good companion and will happily live with any type of horse. She has recently been living with a 17.2hh gelding and gets on really well with him. She is usually bottom of the pecking order and is happy to keep herself to herself. She is no problem to leave in the field and can live in or out. She is nervous of rugs when worn outdoors and we believe she could have been turned out and got tangled in a rug before we got her as she is very nervous of them and when you first turn her out in one she will gallop around but we sorted this by leaving her un rugged and just bring her in on snowy nights/extreme weather. She's good to load, travel, with farrier (barefoot) and loves being groomed and fussed over. Can be a little tricky to catch when first turned out in a new field but will come for a treat!
It's been a really hard decision to part with her as when we first got her she was very nervous and it has taken us a long time to get her to trust people. We are so worried someone will take her and try and ride her so please, please only genuine people apply. I know she doesn't sound like the easiest horse but she is a great companion and I know anyone who is lucky enough to loan her will be very happy with her. I do a lot of natural horsemanship and have done the odd bit with her so I would LOVE someone interested in natural horsemanship to take her, I think she'd really enjoy being played with.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and please message me if you have any questions or would like more info or pics
