Hi everyone!
I'm hoping someone on here may be able to help me...
I'm looking for the perfect mother's dream pony for my little girl, who'll be 5 next week. We have 2 x 34" Shets at the moment, and they've been fantastic LR ponies for her over the past few years. They're also great fun ponies for slightly older kids, who are confident and experienced enough to boss them about and just laugh at their little strops! But while they're safe enough for my little girl to potter around on off-LR, she gets frustrated when they don't do as she asks...
I would love to find her that dream little schoolmaster, who will listen to her sometimes dodgy aids and will try its little heart out to do what she is asking, a pony I can trust to look after her on our forest rides, beach rides, at Pony Club, on fun days, at shows, doing little walk/trot dressage tests and just playing with the other kids and their ponies in the fields.
I have to be honest - I don't want this dream pony forever, so I'm not offering a forever home (which is why ideally I'd like to loan a pony that perhaps needs a job for just a year or two).
What can I offer in return? A large field to live in 24/7 with our Shets. The field has a large shelter, and rather poor unfertilised grass, so is perfect for good doers, as most little natives tend to be. (And if the pony's not such a good doer, supplementary feeding won't be a problem.) We can also offer lots of love, hugs, kisses and all the appropriate care and attention - we've had ponies for several years. The pony will enjoy a variety of activities as already described...
Other preferences - well I'm not looking for a HOYS winner, or showing superstar. We're perfectly happy pottering around local shows doing best child's pony and handy pony! Manners are certainly more important to us than looks or conformation. I'd prefer a native as I don't do plaiting! Oh, and please, no white greys - one white Shetland is enough!!!
Please, no newly backed ponies, no ponies that need lunging before being ridden, no ponies that have only been ridden by older kids. It has to be suitable for a wobbly 5 year old, just coming off LR, who hasn't yet developed perfect hands, legs or seat!
Finally, we're based in Cheshire. I have my own horsebox (well pony box!) but perfer not to travel too far.
Congratulations to anyone who's made it this far. If you think you have the perfect pony for us, I'd love to hear from you!
