At one time you could find really exclusive and unusual items at DH. Country wear and ski wear, lovely lead rein outfits, hats boots etc. Got some fab rugs all unusual and really well made. Nice leatherwork and a huge selection of tack. You were treated like a guest and it was a lovely day out. Have only been once since and could not find anything I needed. The staff were polite but just said we dont stock anything like that anymore.

Well, watch this space! Yesterday I ordered an item from the mid week madness sale. I received an email confirming the order almost immediately. This morning I have received and email stating that goods have been despatched (just used the ordinary 5 day service)....will let you know if this arrives.......
I too remember the Derby House of yesteryear!! I am going back to the late 70's! I saved all my money for a Lemetex Pandur jumping saddle which I bought there...and treasured it for years!

I will only shop at Oakfields now, on line or for big purchases in the shop itself they are helpful, friendly, always have plenty of stock in , unlike some shops that never have what you need in stock...Oakfields are the best !!!! they will always get my business !!! My last online order was sent within 2 days..I have never ever had any problem with this shop at all !! They are fab !!

Well, rug arrived Saturday (yes Saturday) morning - not bad as I only ordered late Wednesday afternoon! Delivery was to work address and no one in so delivery people left parcel with a neighbour.....but forgot to post a card! It was only when I phoned Derby house that they told me it had been left with a "neighbour" (rough looking place too - you would think twice about leaving a free paper there!!). Have just been to these neighbours who had the parcel - so now have the rug! Slight hiccup but couriers fault not DH;s!!

I am still waiting for something I ordered from Derby House about a year and a half ago...!! They phoned me a month or so after it failed to arrive to say they were still awaiting a stock delivery to them. I wonder if they are still waiting for it ?? Like me.

I had the same happen to me, got home on Saturday no card through door, next thing honest neighbour knocked to say they had taken delivery of the parcel, they hadn't had to sign for it, was just asked if they would take it in as it wouldnt fit through my letterbox, lucky they were honest

I must have been really lucky reading all of these comments as I have ordered many items from Derby House and have never had a problem with them, all items delivered very efficiently.

I work in a headoffice of a charity. i luckily work in the retail department, and when we run offers, even if it's 'end of line' offers, we order more stock in at reduced costs to sell on & make sure we can fulfill orders. It's not hard to give good customer services!!!
I used DH once on a mid week madness. ordered about 6 things, 5 turned uo, other was out of stock. All that did turn up, arrived individually & i did not pay for individual postage but atleast most of it got here in the end. took a couple of weeks though!

Caklled in today, wanted a thermatex type rug with neck cover, haD BEEN TOLD out of stock on mail order. whilst looking through heaps of rugs on floor, i actually found thesame rug but dearer, because it wasnt on mail order!!!!!!!!! its still on the floor. The ladies working there want to have lessons in how to be sales people and learn how to smile and be polite too. I can always remember Polly calling you Madam, Not that i want to be called that but! manners maketh man.

I used to work at 'the old Derby House' it was a great place to work and more like a family than a business. Brian, Polly and Paul were really nice people but, the new store isn't the same although some of the original staff still work there.

I have never used the online service because it's easier and cheaper to drive from Bolton and look for myself! having said that, I can say the Derby House is very consistant .. sadly at being a big let down. They remind me of my show cob ... all looks very pretty put just fails to perform. I do like the Samba saddles ... I went up .. CASH in my pocket burning a hole, wanted to a 18" samba with suede seat xxwide ... now is that difficult? After 40 mins of trying to gain the full attention of a member of staff who was competent enough to sell me a saddle ... I left empty handed.

Ive had similar problem TWICE!!!!! Once i placed an order and a pair of jods were out of stock, instead of reimbursing my money (as i thought would have been done automatically but didnt check), months later a delivery arrived and I had totally forgotten about them as it had been so long ago.
Then last christmas I had a pair of boot from my parents for christmas, I opened them Christmas morning, wore them up the yard in morning, put them on to go up in the afternoon and the strap snapped!!!!! My dad rang and explained, we sent them back. Again later my dad asked if the replacement had arrived but they haddn't. Dad rang back to be told they no longer do this range of boot but they didnt refund dad's money til he made this phone call and asked them where the replacement was!!!!! We then ordered a similsr pair of boots from Ride Away which were delivered with in a few days, by the time we had been messed around by DH I recieved my christams present for my birthday FEB 22ND!!!!!!

I ordered several rugs from that same 'mega sale day' at the beginning of October. Got the message at the end of the order process to say 'phone x number to confirm', which I did. Was promptly told that some of the rugs in the sizes I wanted were out of stock - but they had the next size up, which I duly accepted.
One week later I received one of the 5 rugs.
Another week later I received the 2nd of the 5 rugs.
I am STILL waiting for the other 3, which apparently they can't now get hold of and have no stock. However, they accepted my order, they confirmed my order and they took the postage for that ENTIRE order. So I have informed them I will give them until 1st December to get my rugs out to me (or alternatives for the same price) and I will then take then to court, as they have not fulfilled their order and have charged me postage for the order in it's entirety !!
I was offered a £15 voucher - huh, whats the point of that when they never have anything in stock !

trading standards really need to be informed as they seem to be taking orders they know they cannot fulfil
