do you use the keepers to keep it tidy or do you leave it hanging. I know the keepers mean you get a small amount of poll pressure but I am not sure whether they are in common usage. We use a french link full cheek snaffle on my baby so was wondering if I should also be using keepers

Keepers hold the bit in the mouth so that the mouthpiece is always horizontal across the tongue.

I've always been led to believe the use of keepers to be the correct way of using the bit. But not to create poll pressure - just to hold the mouthpiece as judyhems decribes to stabilise the contact.

Great that is what I thought. The reason I asked was I have seen so many photos with fulmer cheek pieces and no keepers that I wondered if they were necessary.

I always use keepers with fulmers and full cheek snaffles as the keepers also serve as a safety measure.
