Please can some one recommend a way of stopping turn out combo rugs rubbing manes. Our TB has just come home from HOYS & he has a fab coat & lovely pulled mane - he will spend the winter out now with a combo rug but I can't afford for his mane to be rubbed. Every year with various makes of rug by the spring the bottoms of their manes go really thin - even our 3/4TB 1/4 ID - they are out with us most of time, unless they are hunting. Tried all sorts - I keep the rugs very clean - spraying detangler on the mane & rug. I've sewed shiny material (satin/silk) onto the inside & seems to no avail? Any ideas anyone please? thanks

Put pig oil or almond oil in the mane, help prevent friction on the mane...

Buy a sheepskin rug (about £25). Cut a strip off and stitch on hood where mane is. Use the rest to make a shoulder protector. Works brilliant.

BUY A RUG WITH A SEPARATE HOOD, I FIND THAT ITS THE CREASE IN THE NECK COVER WHEN IT SLOUCHES DOWN A BIT THAT CAUSES THE RUBBING OR PRESSURE.
