No, gillwales, I think it's the fashion these days to dump the farrier & get in a BFT who obviously knows far far more about hooves and charges an awful lot more!!

With all due respect to the above posters, if there's nothing helpful to be said why post at all? You may have your own reasons for using a farrier but you haven't actually posted them for the OP's benefit, and I don't think it's fair to make useless and quite frankly, mocking comments when the OP has asked a perfectly legitimate question.

My post was helpful and not mocking and is based on professorial experience. A farrier has 5 years of training, is a member of a professional body and carries public liability insurance.

gillwales, wasn't so much aimed at you, your comment was not mocking I agree, my point is OP clearly has a reason for wanting to use a barefoot trimmer and I assume she's already used tried a farrier?
