I can totally understand your frustration, I have the same issue selling something via work classified ads.
On the flip side if photos were posted on adverts then I would have thought there would be less timewasting as no need to ask for pics. I know if I could have posted pics on my advert at work I would have.

I think it is be expected that people will want to see a photo before travelling (possibly a long way) to look a pony. I also think that it is manners, if you make an request for more info/photo, to get back to the advertiser to say thanks but not what I am looking for. I once advertised for a stallion for export to Australia - I received over 100 replies and I replied to every one of them!

I think what people are saying is you would have less "time wasting" emails if you put a picture with the ad to start with. Then you'd save time sending loads of emails. Obviously, if someone is looking for something quite specific, the picture may show quite the opposite, so they don't get back to you. In my opinion, it takes 2mins to send a quick "thanks, but no thanks" type message, but I think increasingly, people don't bother. I would say to cut down on the numbers asking for info in emails, put as much detail & pics on the ad, so people haven't the need to email. I know a few will still, but you make it less likely

Nobody is missing what you are saying, people are just pointing out that you could reduce the number of timewasters by putting a photo in the actual advert.
I totally agree that it is only good manners to at least go back to you after you have supplied photos and information to say "thanks but no thanks" so that at least you know where you stand.
I do not know why someone would say they want it then not come back and pay for it - obviously in those circumstances they must have changed their mind - but they should have contacted you as soon as they changed their mind to let you know.
I think anyone who has ever sold anything knows that there are timewasters out their but to shoot people down for trying to offer constructive comments about reducing time wasters is a bit unfair.
