I am so bloody fuming about the judging today at NWC As long as my pony behaves I'm usually happy but she totally deserved to be through to the top 10, half of the ones that did go though went dreadfully, although some totally deserved to go through.
And the judge wasn't particularly friendly either. I know everyone seems to love this show but we deffo won't be coming back

I know it always seems hard when you do not feel that your pony gets proper consideration, however I would rather my pony went well and got overlooked than put up when they went badly.

put it down to experience and do what you said, don't go there again or under that Judge

I have just seen on facebook that 1 of my friends didnt get through either! Waiting to hear why as her pony is lovely and normally goes well!!
Who was judging? I use to get so disheartened when that happened as it feels like time and money was just wasted!!

Yep agree totally gillwales, I'm really pleased with her, she nearly always places well at county, affiliated, equifest etc including qualifying for the picton final and she nearly always tries her best as she did today but its do annoying when ponies place above her that are either sticking heads up, pinned in, riders legs flapping like they are trying to take off Grrr!!

I have to agree, although I am greatfull for the judge pulling me forward for the top ten, I was upset and really disheartened when I didn't get a placing and my pony was alot more settled and relaxed in his show than some of the other ponies. The worst thing of all was he didn't even say why I hadn't been placed!!!!!! Don't think I'll be back next year even with our success in the Novice.

Well done on your novice results!
I thought after sleeping on it I would be less miffed but I still think we were hard done by yesterday, on some occasions I've thought that she's made mistakes - thrown her head a bit or been fussing at the bit or on her forehand but I honestly can't think where she went wrong Even people I don't know have messaged me and said they had her in top 6 in not higher, its so annoying when yesterday cost at least £70! I honestly wish we had taken her to the local fun show today and done the gymkhana classes
Anyway, I'll move on and roll on Supreme Showdown ;D

And can I ask people that know her, does she look babyish or decrepit? Its only that the judge asked How old? And my daughter said She's 8, judge said "Really!!??"
Not sure how to take that Maybe if it was a novice class some judges may think she was a bit old, but she, actually only started her ridden life at 7 with us, never done anything until then

Redsky your pony is stunning. Such a shame. I also have to say that I was a little disappointed that my dales didn't get anything Got through to evening but stood on back line and honestly went mega. Also disappointed about the dales stallion Matthew not getting anything. Not to take anything away from the winner

I agree, really like the winner and the other connie, think it was placed 6th and one of the fells that was one, of the last to do its show, yours did a great show and I noticed he wasn't placed

Hannah and Blossom are Fab, and just wasn't their day, as it wasn't Anest and Flutes's day today, although Flutes did misbehave so not exactly like Hanna's circumstances, but like you say it's the money you spend, we spent over £100 diesel and £35 entry fee's to not even have our pony looked at, allthough glad in a way otherwise he would have seen his temper tantrums!!!!

I have to say, from what I have seen of Dewi he is very knowledgeable. If he put the pony down then he found something he didn't like! (I have stewarded for him and he sees what a lot of people would miss. He also knows what he likes, and if it isn't his type it will be put down) Did you ask for a comment at all?

I did but he couldn't remember which one my pony was (understandable after such large classes) I understand that that's showing and its just 1 persons opinion on one day but its just frustrating when you put all your time and money into it and it doesn't get recognised. Oh well bring on next year!! Xx

That's fair enough but annoying when performance isn't taken into account in a ridden class, which in SOME instances appeared to be the case. I agree that everyone has their own preference but I know mine has always got good conformation marks and has been well placed at county level, qualified for the picton, been champion at nps area 5 etc so she is a good pony and I'm not losing sleep over this particular placing (or lack of!) just a bit miffed over the wasted time and money!

I have to say i was shocked to see that the said judge didnt even watch half of the ponies in the classes, he had his back turned to most of the competitors and didn't wait for each individual show to finish before moving onto the next pony!
we did get through to the evening and got placed but after watching his judging throughout the day he is a judge i will put on our bad judge page !
He liked what he liked and performance was over looked!
