Advert I have just seen goes basically along the lines of- 16.115 yr old mare for sale as companion only as she has just been diagnosed with wobblers syndrome and other leg/muscle related issues. She doesnt like the farrier, dentist, loading or being clipped but will put up with it!! Really? I wouldn't think it was serious but you get charged for putting the adds on the site I have seen it on!!! Is it just me or is that just wrong??

Aw bless her. Poor old girl, sounds like she'd be better off pts I don't know anything about wobblers but I've got a 15 yo with health issues and if I found I couldn't keep him I would have him pts rather than have him shoved around pillar to post. There are so many healthy horses out there that are notselling, what hope has such a big horse with a long term problem?

i think thats local to me as ive seen that advertised..........
i saw another for a "heartbreaking" sale of a 20 odd year old that was a light hack due to issues etc
dosent wash with me.........only way to secure a horses future is pts.
i had my horse pts last week due to issues we couldnt solve.... she was 6. Broke my heart but i adored her thats why i did it.,,,,unlike the ads seen imo!

Wobblers is a condition caused by restriction of the channel that the spinal cord passes through in the spine, it pinches the cord causing temporary paralysis and often cause the horse to fall over. It usually manifests itself while the horse is maturing, there is no cure. I find it astonishing that a 15 year old mare would still be around if suffering with this condition and would strongly advise anyone NOT to purchase, loan or accept as a gift.

Why on earth wont people do the right thing, and have animals of this sort, quietly and kindly put down ?

I am half hoping who ever it is that is selling see's this and could give an explanation as to why they are doing this? Its so so sad, never mind the fact that the horse could be a danger to itself or a person if it falls!!
