At the WPCS sale I spoke to a lady who purchased a colt from us at the beginning of the year. She had a moan about a Judge ( and I don't think she is wrong) At a show in Rowlands Castle,Hampshire. In her class she was pulled in second out of 12. The stand in Judge (if you could call her that!!) then asked the name of the pony, when the lady said his name the judge then muttered to herself the breeders name and then put the pony to 12th place !! . I was under the impression that Judges are to judge the animal not the Breeder or the owner, now we know why she is only a stand in Judge.

A judge should NEVER ask how a pony is bred until after the class is completed. If the show was affiliated and the judge a panel judge I would be tempted to write to the society. But I would not hold my breath that they will take any action.

I agree with mosswood, sad to say this is not an isolated incidence, I too have been asked how a pony was bred part way through a class. The fact that the Judge was a replacement is neither here nor there, except a disappointment for those who would not normally show under her... we all have our little black list!
