My daughter currently has a 12.3 Welsh Section B and they're doing rather well at jumping. She has a 15" Thorowgood pony club saddle, but her instructor (and several others) have suggested a proper jumping saddle would benefit her.
Looking to spend £750-£1K and would like an adjustable gullet, what can you recommend ?

I've just had this hunt and literally sat my daughter in every make under the sun at HOY's!! I plumped for the John Whitaker jump saddle and am so pleased with my choice! It holds her securely, she finds it comfortable and it fits the pony beautifully. She has show jumped in it, cubbed in it and today done a full days hunting in it! Her pony really jumps big and she never moves but finds it really comfortable even today after 5 hours hunting!

The John Whitaker is one on our list, would possibly be 1st choice if the gullet were changeable. Our local stockist (who's a genius saddle fitter) is now starting to stock XCH saddles, but they don't currently have 15.5" GFS Close Contact in stock, and XCH don't include their cheaper saddles in the Try Before You Buy offer. I'm reluctant to spend £750 on a saddle I can't at least test fit on the pony 1st ?

What about a traditional leather saddle that has a tree that can be adjusted a handful of times? I've personally yet to see an adjustable head plate saddle in 16" or less that works really well on many ponies.
