Why oh why cant I buy a 2nd hand rug??? Ive messaged numerous people (not on here) and bid on them on ebay and people either dont message me back , dont send payment details or withdraw the ads One girl posted a list of rugs on FB at 2.45pm one day last week, I messaged her about one of them at 2.47pm and she messaged me back saying she would check whether she still had it or not and get back to me.... I refuse to buy brand new for my herd of rug trashing filth bags, I would cry to see a lovely brand new rug ripped to shreds in minutes but Ive got a teenager from hell demanding that the fell needs a full neck TO as the regular neck is rubbing the very important bottom half inch of mane

Redsky, you should know that the bottom half inch of mane is a fundamental piece of equipment. For holding onto mid-jump when you feel yourself flying with effortless grace over its neck!!
As for second hand rugs - there seem to be loads advertised on here and someone said they were having a massive clear out (can't recall who, sorry) - surely SOMEONE on here must have rugs for sale in the right size. Its not like you're looking for a 7ft or anything out of the ordinary!!

I'm with you on this, I only buy second hand for the same reason and to be honest people only sell what's in good condition so most of the time your getting a bargain. But the amount of times I've wanted a rug the money waiting to be paid and nothing! I was starting to think second hand rugs were as rare as rocking horse sh*t. Finally seem to have sorted myself out still looking for a mediumweight 6ft6 as the one I just bought isn't waterproof in torrential rain so it seems :s

I have just sold a 6'3" Masta Stable rug and a 6'6" Weatherbeeta Taka om eBay as they didn't fit my remaining horses. Both went for only £20. When I try to buy they go for 2 or 3 times that!!! The cost of posting adds £12.00 + to any horse rug.

I've sold a load of rugs this year both on here and on eBay. Some were clean and proofed, other I asked a token price for as they were either dirty or damaged.
There's preloved too but don't forget that PayPal is the only safe way to pay unless you are collecting.

Its the woman on FB that astounded me, how can you place an ad for a rug then literally 2 minutes later, not know if you have it or not??? It was within driving distance as well so no p+p, she's still not got back to me, obviously confused as to whether she owns this rug or not

I have found a few times now that you can get new rugs on Ebay as cheap as secondhand one once you have taken the postage into consideration, especially if you buy slightly out of season. F.ex I bought a 5' WB full neck landa rug second hand last month for 40 including the postage, but bought a 5'6 WB Taka full neck a few months before, brand new for 55 including postage, so worth looking around

I never seem to find eBay bargains I need to get organised and buy rugs for next season. It always astounds me that people actually have 2nd hand rugs that are sell able, mine are all ripped, buckles pulled off, plastered in poo etc within weeks, if not days of buying them

The ones I sold were from a horse who never ripped a rug in 20 years. My daughter's horse rips others so is out on his own, never rips his own thank goodness. This will be 3rd winter for both horses in same rugs. The ponies about 5!!! All my fields are post and rail with electric fencing on top. That may be the difference.

Ha ha, I was quite happy to buy new rugs while I had my little Shetlands and little A, they used to last for years with very little damage. But now we have the demon Cs, both of which have trashed new expensive rugs in the past couple of weeks. I had turned soft on the youngster, well no more, he can spend the winter naked after all! However the ridden C really needs a rug so she can be ridden during convenient gaps in the rain, without a long drying out period I can see she's going to be an expensive pony to keep

I love the rugs that rideloupe sells on ebay. I dont know this person but have bought loads over the last 5 years or so - all treally hardwearing with enough chest/neck room for my big boys. They are really cheap as well - about £40 for a stable with neck and about £50 for heavy outdoors with neck. In the summer they are even cheaper...

I have lots of cheap 5'9/6'0 rugs for sale if you're interested?
I have no problem with people coming to collect rugs from me at my farm, but recently I have been messed around by a member who told me they wanted to collect a rug from me on 2 separate occasions - both times left me waiting around for almost an hour and didnt reply to my messages. Then the cheeky bugger had the balls to ask to collect the rug a third time - at this point I said no p+p only.
