Right so i have a 1 yr old jack russel b***h. who i love to bits, and want to enjoy walks with. She is fab, very obident but when out on walks she sences a car coming from ages away, even before me, as it approches she trys to run towards it. and when the car drives past she barks and lunges at it. iv tried so many things, tried treats to try and distract her, iv tried stones in a coke can to try and take her attention away. i dont know what else to try. i always make her sit when the car approaches, and make her wait until the car has gone, but she just trys to chase it and run at the end of the lead! i dont know what else to do, but its getting silly now, and need help!!

At the moment she is walked in a harness beacuase I thought being so young didn't want anything harsh on, think I will consider changing this to something else soon, just need to crack this barking on the head. Its not only embarrassing, but always dangerous when she lunges at cars! Xx

The halti is the same as a horse headcollar so it isnt harsh, dont know why but it instantly worked to stop my dog pulling and lunging forward after things x

Theres no short answer to this but training. Chasing the cars is fab because her reward is in its going away so she has WON!!! Take something she likes with you like pieces of chicken or sausage and every time a car comes get her attention and make her sit for the reward. Soon the cars will become boring! Behaviourists will charge you about £50 for that info! Good luck!

I will give everything you suggested a go, iv been trying for a whole now to get her to behaving with cars. I tried the coke can, and that worked for a little amount of time, because its distacts her and she would rather listen to that than chase the cars. But she gave up with that idea. Will but some cocktail sausages I think!

we had this with our old bc - firstly put a halti on her (and do it slowly dont just put it on and walk!) We use to make our BC down when he wanted to chase a car - teach her the watch command - so when theres a car... (before the car gets near) get her to watch you... praise and then carry on once its passed wont be overnight - but a halti and the "watch" command and plenty of treats and encouragement..... just dont get annoyed....believe me i wanted to give up many many times but once it clicks its wonderful
