have noticed the last couple of times i have ridden my clipped horse, that the heel of my riding boots are rubbing against his coat (where he is clipped) and the hair is beginning to thin out. I have ridden him in different boots since to see if they are causing the rubbing, but whatever i wear seems to do the same thing . Any ideas of what i can do to protect the rubbed area from gettng even worse? as dont want it to grow back grey. have applied camrosa to the patches to see whether this will help... Any ideas? x

hya my rydale wellies did this to the side of one of my horses. i found that megatek did a brill job of making the fur grow back quickly and it grew back the colour it was supposed to instead of grey XxX

Only a thought, but try turning your toe in, and your heel will move away from his side and only be on it when you are giving him an effective and required leg aid. The hair wont grow back grey, unless you cause damage to the skin itself, I've had the odd rub mark when I've been lazy and tired out hunting on a tough day and have jammed my feet into the stirrups up to the instep and allowed my lower leg to swivel.

ok thanks will give that a try! perhaps thats what the prob is, as have lately been doing more hacking rather than schooling, and is so easy to get lazy with leg positions when not in the school/showring lol x

I did the same thing to my horse when he was clipped, but same as you, I put camrosa on and you never knew the rubs had been there..
