I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a dressage saddle for my wide flat backed welsh c? I'm not looking to spend crazy money and prefer to ride I'n a suede saddle as to leather,I'm fussy i know! He is currently ridden I'n a fylde Samantha that's 10 inch d to d,but he's only 3 year old so still has growing to do.any suggestions welcome!! Thanks !

Ive just bought a wintec wide dressage saddle for my C who is very difficult to fit a saddle to (no withers and very very wide!) Im not normally a fan of synthetic saddles but for what it is i'm very impressed and it didn't cost a bomb to!
to add it has suede knee rolls!

What about a more substantial showing saddle, might be a cheaper option and would be more likely to be suede?

I also have a welsh C who is an XXW. I bought a black country saddle a few months ago and love it! It has a decent knee role but is also good for showing, going the gallops etc oh and its also suede Heres a quick pic:

I would definitely say Black Country Saddles. I bought one for my connie x as a 3 year old and have just sent it back to Black Country to be altered to fit her adult shape. You can also choose different flap lengths etc

I've also just bought a Black Country saddle - VSD second hand and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I'd never come across them before but it was the only one of 10 I tried with a master saddle fitter that fitted my boy perfectly - a 3 year old arab, newly backed with, not surprisingly, no muscle on his shoulder but a good top line and VERY flat, wide back and low wither. I feel very secure in it and he moves well so good all round.
A Farrington Working hunter saddle was a good fit too - similar wide flat panels and good bearing surface liek the BC. I have my flat backed Welsh A in a Farrington too and its great.
I found the Wintecs/Bates tree shape too curved for Riz's flat back.
Good luck!

Lush piccy Frank Baines makes brilliant saddles for the extra extra wide types. Wintecs even on an XW are way too narrow for mine I will have a look at the Black Country too - thanks x
