The guest area has been closed for a few days to guests, and the Mods have had to close it in the past to allow a 'cooling off' period.
Do you think it should be remain closed to guests, or re-opened and we risk the threat of more 'trolls' or nasty threads....?

I don't think the nastiness is prevented by closing the guest area, nasty people will always find a way, they'll just take it to facebook and be spiteful on there whilst pretending to be nice on here so they can use the site for free advertising. So pointless to block guests IMO. It does need to be monitored though.

is there a way that you can open a thread has a guest but have to be a member to reply? That way people can get questions answered but stop trouble makers

That way people can get questions answered but stop trouble makers There is a way to do this, and we could give it a go, but it would mean if the "guest" wanted to respond to posts made, then they wouldn't be able to. |

Is there a way for Mods to look at thread first before anyone is allowed to comment on it? That could stop some of the problems, but dont stop guests posting in there all together, some guests have genuine questions...

No way of doing that as we can only read threads when we are online - only way to get round that I can think of would be for mods to post on behalf of guests and I think that could get far too messy and it wouldn't record IPs. |

Definitely close it, people can post on Guest and be completely unaccountable for their comments, which in the past have been frankly libellous and very dangerous. Keep it closed, if people have a vaid point, they shouldnt be afraid to put their name to it.
