Yesterday when I got home from work I noticed my old GSD wasn't feeling very well so rang Vet and made an appointment for today. However, as she sat down on her bed I noticed that her tummy was huge. Promptly rung the vet to see if I could take her up straight away. They said yes.
After a quick look over and listen to her symptoms - vet went and got a syringe and put it to her tummy - she was bleeding internally. She was operated on there and then. I sat outside in the car waiting.
Ten minutes passed and vet was at my car window. She had blood vessal cancer and it had split her liver in two and had spread through her chest. He couldn't save her.
So at 7.40 last night my baby went to sleep - they cleaned her up so I could be with her when she went.
I will miss her dearly as will my other dog and partner. She was a great companion and friend. Sweet Dreams Kia

Thank you for your kind words - all cried out now (I think) just a numb really today.
My other dog is taking it quite badly - she won't leave my side and keeps looking for Kia ( I don't think it helps that I haven't moved Kia's bed or bowl yet - just can't do it yet)
Somebody sent me this poem this morning. Hope it helps anyone in the same position as me.
I didn't want to leave you I tried so hard to stay But the angels came on Tuesday To take my pain
Thank you for a happy life For the tender loving care For the cuddles and the tickles That just you and I would share
Remember all the happy times The things we used to do And know when you are happy I will be happy too
And somedays if you are feeling low Just settle in the chair Close your eyes and listen And for a moment I'll be there

I am picking Kia's ashes up today. She is taking pride of place in my living room.
