Hi, I recently lost my springer aged 11 to cancer:-( I have another dog, her daughter who is 6, and she seemed fine at first, but now seems to be getting very depressed, she used to come for cuddles on the sofa at night but now just lies in her basket, and she is eating but it takes a lot of persuading, I was wondering whether another dog would help her or make her worse as she is a bit scared of other dogs, but thought she may be ok with a puppy?? Any advice would be great:-)

One border collie I had took 2 weeks to accept a new JRT pup- she was very nervous. Then they were the best of friends. My older JRT was so pleased when we introduced our now 3 year old to her when she was 6 it brought tears to my eyes. Your dog hasn't just lost a friend, but her mum as well. I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

This happened with ours a while ago. a puppy worked out well as it felt like a dad to the puppy and looking after it gave it a purpose.
