OH is now definitely redundant as of tomorrow He has been messed about while they make the legal dotted i and crossed t bits having interview after interview without a clear answer as to whether or not he had lost his job It has been torture a bit like the sword of Damocles hanging over his head. He is the only wage earner and 61 so not sure if he will get another job. He has never been out of work and has never claimed any benefits we have no idea how it all works. He wont get his redundancy payout until the end of the month. He wants to work doesn't want to be on benefits and is prepared to do anything that is legal. Only thing is it must not cost more to go to work than he can earn so we have draw a ring round where we live and have said minimum wage up o 10 miles a bit more for 15 miles etc don;t know if this is a good idea or not I am very worried and have ulcers with the stress Have a young pony to sell who was going anyway possibly a bombproof 7 year old later this year could do to be down to 2 before next winter

I'm sorry to hear that.
There are a few well known names that are well known for taking in older staff - B&Q is one that immediately springs to mind
All the very best x

A few people I know are delivering cars for garages etc, obviously one would need a good driving record.

Mr Flee worked for local authority for over 35 years and took voluntary redundancy package 2 years ago .It was a difficult decision at the time as he was in a management position and earning good money .However , it has subsequently proved to be the best thing he ever did and he was correct in his prediction that had he not gone voluntarily , he would have been made redundant anyway . You will be amazed at just how many jobs there are out there for people who do genuinely want to work . Mr F panicked a bit at first and jumped at anything that came his way , and then realised that actually LOTS of things kept coming his way , and that he could afford to be picky ! He now works a few hours for other people , in his field of expertise , and has also set up his own training business .He works a couple of days a week and is earning as much as when he worked full time . Up until about 7 years ago my main occupation was as a freelance riding instructor .When I decided that I wanted more money/less hassle I took on a variety of part time jobs and also started my own business alongside .This time last year I was regularly working a 50 hour week - just because I enjoyed it ! Have just given up my jobs and sold my business and am about to embark on a new venture . Neither me nor Mr F are spring chickens but there is ALWAYS something out there , often in the most unexpected places ( Mr F being PAID .YES.PAID.to test drive brand -shiny -new -super -duper -state -of -the -art trucks , pre-production And they struggle to find people to do this !!.If only they'd known - he would've done it for nothing !!Bit like me and you being asked to test ride Tortillas !!). Also , don't discount part time work - in my experience the hourly rate is often a lot better ie I did one 3 hour job for £50 ( noone wants a three hour job !) , one job was paid at £20 for 2 hours ( 5 times a week ) but we only actually worked 1 1/4 hours .These were only two of many and it all added up to a lot more than 35 hours on minimum wage .Only downside was remembering were you were supposed to be at any given time of the day .Became expert at going round and round roundabouts until I finally remembered where I was going . Don't panic - think outside the box and you'll be fine . Male Escort ??

Agree with this ^^^
I was made redundant last year and thought it was the end of the world at the time. A forum member (not on this forum) contacted me and now I work for her husband
It was the absolute best thing that ever happened to me
Not saying your hubby will be as lucky but someone on here may know of a suitable job if they have a rough idea of location x

My hubby's dad works for a car rental place part time delivering cars to people's homes and businesses to rent , he loves it as he's out and about all day , no stress and gets to drive new cars all the time , he took the job after he retired rather than being made redundant tho . Def worth applying to your local car rental places ;-) I wish you good luck , redundancy and the uncertainty is awful , I'm currently going through consultation for my job at the minute , don't find out till end of Feb /
