Hi, a nervous first post in this section. I am looking for recommendations for a stallion to cover my mare. She is a 15.1 heavyweight coloured cob mare with a successful BE, BD and BS competition record. I want to breed a 'keeper' for myself to have fun with and want to add some blood but stay within the 15 to 15.3 hh range. She is an Irish import of unknown breeding but moves like a warmblood. She is quite feisty and, as I am not that young anymore, temperament is important. I have a shortlist but I would love to know your suggestions. AI and budget of £800. Thanks in advance.

Hi I have a 15.1 cob with unknown breeding, we think she is Welsh x Fresian she has lovely movement. I decided that I wanted to breed from her to get a future horse for me. I put her to Zilando, John Whittakers coloured stallion. A coloured offspring was not guarenteed. What I have got is a stunning Bay with lovely markings, movement to die for. I think she will make 16hh plus (but then I did want one abit bigger). Take a look at him on the stallions at stud webite or John Whittakers website. He is beautiful, but then I am biased, he also has a great temperment which was important for me aswell. Hope you find one that will give you what you are looking for. x

Hi Rubyredshoes, how about an anglo arab? check out my horse Chancton Golden Colours - there is a video of him on you tube. He is only available via a.i. I'm sure we could come to some arrangement re budget. contact details are on his video )which is a bit rubblish, but you will be able to see what a lovely horse he is.)

Thanks rach1 and lampshade. So far I have a 'short list' that includes:
Rembrandt DDH Classics Charmeur Buenno Vincent Aimbry Chester Bathleyhills Monet Hilkens black delight Hilkens charismatic Wadacre super trooper
But I think some of those listed above may not be available for 2013. Quite a list and I am not sure how to cut it down to a proper short list. Hopefully the stallion showcase next month will help.

Have you thought of the Pickmere stud? They have a few stallions. I used Pickmere Sirocco on my Anglo arab mare and the foal (now rising 5) is a 15h. Pat & John at the stud are very very helpful, they guided me as it was the first time I had bred. Here is the www.pickmerestud.co.uk/about.htm

Aimbry Chester would be my choice. I would avoid full TB stallions if you are looking for very quiet and your mare is a bit sharp already.

Hi rubyredshoes, I am flattered to see our Bathleyhills Monet on your list of possible stallions, if you would like any more information on him please feel free to contact me on 0775 3445614.
It would be useful to have a conformation picture to see what stallion would suit your mare the best :-) as it maybe useful to see what pros and cons for each stallion.
I do believe Hilkens Black Delight will not be available this year.
